Avoiding direct sun exposure for a prolonged period of time is the cardinal rule of skin care and it’s what dermatologists highly recommend since there’s sufficient evidence proving that exposure to UV rays can cause skin cancer and even eye damage. However, avoiding sunbathing altogether is easier said than done. For that very reason, establishing good sun-protection habits is essential for having beautiful and healthy skin. From walking on the shaded side of the street to wearing UV-blocking sunglasses, hats and clothing, the bottom line is that you need to wear the right sunscreen whenever you’re out. When used correctly, sunblock can decrease your risk of developing skin cancer and prevent skin aging.

How Does Sunscreen Work?

No matter where you are, the beach, the mountain or just walking down the street, if you are outside, your delicate skin is exposed to the sun’s invisible yet damaging rays. And yes, this happens even on cloudy days. Ultraviolet rays (UV) can damage the DNA of your skin cells, resulting in gene mutations which can lead to skin cancer. A good sunscreen will protect your skin and reduce these damaging effects.

Sun protection products work in two ways, depending on their composition – they either reflect or absorb the UV rays. Sun cream lotions that feature inorganic chemicals in their composition help to physically protect against or repel the sun away from the skin. Dermatologists explain that ingredients like titanium dioxide or zinc oxide work by reflecting the sun’s rays, similar to how white paint reflects light. The images of white-coloured noses on the beaches in the 1980s and 1990s are a great example of that. The reason why we don’t see white-coloured noses on the beaches anymore is that manufacturers have made the particles in these chemicals smaller, so they are no longer visible when applied.

Sun care products with organic, carbon-based ingredients, like oxybenzone and avobenzone, on the other hand, absorb the sun’s radiation through their chemical bonds so that the skin doesn’t have to. As the bonds absorb the radiation, the chemical compounds in the sun protectant slowly break down and release heat.

What Does SPF Mean?

Nowadays you can easily buy sunscreen online with different SPF rating. SPF refers to how well the product protects against UVB radiation. Choosing what strength of SPF sun cream lotion to buy depends on which part of your body do you intend to use it most, the sensitivity of your skin, the activities you will be performing as well as your skin type. While it is recommended to use a product with SPF between 15 and 50, consider using anywhere from 30 to 50 SPF as a daily facial sun cream lotion. Keep in mind that if you have sensitive skin, you may experience more irritation with higher strength products. Research has shown that SPF 15 protects against about 93% of UVB rays, while SPF 30 shields you from 97%. Research has also proven that SPF ratings higher than 50 have not been proven to be more effective than SPF 50 products. According to experts, no level of SPF can block UV rays 100%.

How Long Does Sunscreen Last?

The SPF number also gives you an idea of how long it will take for your skin to burn or turn red when exposed to the sun. For example, an SPF 15 sunblock will prevent your skin from burning about 15 times longer than it would take for it to get damaged without protection. This means that if your skin would start burning in 10 minutes without sun cream lotion, an SPF 15 sunblock will delay that effect for 150 minutes. Considering the fact that most people don’t know the base rate for their skin to burn, the Skin Cancer Foundation recommends that people reapply sunscreen block minimum every two hours, regardless of the strength of the product they use.

Can You Tan with Sunscreen?

Although UV protection can slow down your tanning process, it won’t stop it completely. As a matter of fact, the body protects itself through tanning. Tanning helps your body to tolerate the sun without getting sunburned. So it’s important to reapply sunscreen to get effective protection against radiation.

Does Sunscreen Expire?

Yes, they do. The FDA requires all sun protection products to be marked with an expiration date. But in case you can’t really read the date on the sunscreen you’re using, use your common sense to determine whether it’s good to be used. If a product does not look, smell or feel the way it did when you originally purchased it, you shouldn’t use it. The changes in its consistency can be a sign that the product’s ingredients are no longer active. In other words, you will have a false sense of protection against the sun and are more likely to develop a sunburn. Know that even unopened sun cream lotions can lose their efficacy over time, so it’s best to be cautious. Experts recommend buying new sunscreen products every season.

Having excessively greasy hair can have a toll on our confidence and make us dread going out. How many times have you gone to bed with recently washed hair only to get up in the morning and realize it is oily again? Arghh, the horror! So, you find yourself using all kinds of products so that you don’t look like you haven’t bathed for days. You spend tons of money and time on dry shampoos that are just short-term solutions to only wash your hair again in a couple of hours. But frequently washing your hair does more damage than good. It has been found to strip your hair from its needed natural oils. Drying out the scalp can cause it to overproduce oil, and then the problem is exacerbated.

To remedy your situation, you have probably been advised to use a shampoo for oily air. But what about a conditioner? Your hair also needs proper nourishment and hydration. For a soft and hydrated hair, add a conditioner for oily hair to your hair care routine. But you can’t make do with just any conditioner. Some products on the market have ingredients which will only make matters worse. Here are some tips on picking the best conditioner for oily hair.

Ingredients to Look for

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil is widely popular when it comes to hair and skincare products. The reason for this is that it is perfect for moisturizing the skin and hair. This is perfect as even if you are battling with greasy hair, you still don’t want to dry out your scalp. Jojoba oil is also rich with vitamins such as vitamin E, B and C which can nourish your scalp and hair. These nutrients can help strengthen your hair and, in turn, prevent breakage and split ends.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is another natural ingredient you should look for when buying oily hair conditioners. Much like jojoba oil, it moisturizes and nourishes your skin. But what interests you most is the effect it has on oily hair. Well, applying aloe vera to your scalp can remove the excess oil. And the best part is that it is not harsh on the skin. In fact, aloe vera is widely used to treat sunburnt skin. This plant provides your hair with all the nutrients needed, so your hair grows out stronger. Some even say that it promotes hair growth, though further research is needed on the matter.

Moringa

Yet another plant-based ingredient that makes your hair soft and frizz-free. Moringa is rich with vitamin A, which promotes hair growth. It is also rich with vitamin E and C, which are considered powerful antioxidants. The perfect conditioner for oily hair should include ingredients which not only moisturize your scalp and remove excess oil but also nourish your hair and promote healthy growth. The end result is smooth and frizz-free hair!

Ingredients to Avoid

Sulphates

Sulphates are used in a variety of hygienic products as they help create the lather needed to remove dirt. So, if they are included in your shampoo or conditioner, they will create soapy bubbles and you will then need to wash that away. However, the reason why you should avoid sulphates in shampoos and conditioners is that they also remove the natural oils produced by your scalp. Overusing products with sulphates can create a dry and itchy scalp. And while your goal is to remove all excess oil, you shouldn’t also get rid of the sebum your scalp produces to nourish your hair.

Silicone

Silicone in hair products has a short-term effect only. Yes, it will make your hair look smooth and well-styled but only while you are using it. When you add silicone to your hair you are basically adding a layer which prevents moisturizing. Not only that but dirt sticks to it as well. The end result is hair that looks perfectly styled for a few days, but is, in turn, dry and damaged afterwards. Another downside is that silicone is heavy for your hair and weighs it down, which makes it even greasier.

Toxic Chemicals

Some hair care products have ingredients which are hard to pronounce. And if you aren’t knowledgeable on the matter, it is hard to tell which ones are harmful to your health and which aren’t. We already mentioned sulphates, but other chemicals to avoid having in your oily hair shampoos and conditioners are parabens. These have been linked to cancer, so it is in your best interest to avoid them. Some of the most commonly found ones are methylparaben and propylparaben.

How to Use Your Conditioner

After you have picked the conditioner that suits you most, there are some dos and don’ts in terms of caring for your hair. Firstly, the conditioner should always be applied after shampooing your hair. Avoid the scalp area, and focus on the middle area of your hair and the ends. Then, make sure that you have rinsed off both the shampoo and the conditioner completely. Having residue hair products might make your hair look oily. As I mentioned, you should also avoid over-washing your hair. At first, it might seem like you are just leaving your hair greasy for the day. But over time, your scalp will get used to the new routine and won’t produce as much oil as it did previously.

Generally, there is no known cure for allergies, however, there are several types of medications that can help ease and treat annoying symptoms like congestion or runny nose. You can find both over-the-counter and prescription allergy medicines that are quite useful, and invaluable for many. Antihistamines are a type that works great. Here is how.

How do Antihistamines Work and How to Take Them

When compared to other allergy medicines, antihistamines have been used for a long time to treat and help ease allergy symptoms. Antihistamines can be taken in the form of pills, liquid, nasal spray, or eye drops. Antihistamine eye drops relieve red itchy eyes, and nasal sprays are quite useful for runny nose during seasonal or year-round allergies.

When an allergy-prone person is exposed to an allergen – let’s take ragweed pollen for example – it triggers the immune system. People who suffer from allergies often demonstrate an exaggerated immune response. Cells known as “mast cells” release a substance called histamine, which then attaches to receptors in blood vessels and causes them to enlarge. Histamine also has an effect over other receptors and is responsible for redness, swelling, itching and changes in secretions. Well, allergy medicines, including antihistamines, prevent all these symptoms by blocking histamine and keeping it from binding to receptors.

How to Make Your Home an Allergy-Proof Environment

Granted, allergy medicines do help and treat symptoms, but there are a few things you can do at home in order to avoid having an attack, at least while you are spending time in the comfort of your home. Here is what you can do. If you are allergic to pollen you are advised to keep the windows closed and run the air-conditioner. Fans are not recommended as they stir up dust. For additional prevention, you can cover the air conditioning vents with cheesecloth so that pollen can be trapped. Next, you should keep the humidity level in your home below 50% to help prevent mould growth.

For pet owners – you should consider keeping your furry friends outside. For more severe cases of allergies taking care of pets is not even an option. For many people, animal dander and saliva are quite common allergens. Furthermore, when you clean around your home don’t forget to use a mask and gloves. This will limit your exposure to dust and chemicals. Finally, even though there are things you can do to help, know that once you leave your home you can’t keep everything under control. That is why allergy medicines are here to provide you with a solution whenever and wherever you may need it.

If you are not already a part of the aromatherapy world, it is probably due to the fact that you aren’t aware of all the benefits that come with diffusing essential oils. In fact, according to many studies, inhaling essential oils through diffusion is one of the most effective ways to reap all the benefits of said oils. Now, without further ado, let’s go into more detail as to why you need to hop on this bandwagon too.

Relaxation and Sleep

One of the main and most important reasons why so many people rely on the use of essential oils is their ability to help us relax after a hard day and improve our sleep. And while there are many ways to use essential oils, the fastest and most popular way of making use of their properties is through an aromatherapy diffuser. The most commonly used aromatherapy diffuser these days is the ultrasonic one that creates a nice aromatic mist with the help of water and whatever essential oil you decide to add. These heavenly diffusers need only a small amount of essential oil in order to produce a noticeable, yet subtle aroma and except for being extremely appealing, they can also act as the perfect humidifier. Thanks to their simple, yet modern design, you can use them whenever and wherever you want like for example in your office, living room, hall and especially in your bedroom in order to promote a better sleep at night. Just add a few drops of the commonly used calming and relaxing essential oils in your diffuser and let your mind and body relax.

Resilience Against Cold and Flu

A lot of studies have shown that the inhalation of powerful anti-microbial essential oils like eucalyptus, clove, peppermint, sweet orange, cinnamon, oregano, etc., can stimulate the production of white blood cells and boost our immune system. When diffused into the air, essential oils have the power to kill viruses and bacteria while freshening up the air in the room and improving your respiratory system. That being said, the most commonly used essential oils for reducing inflammation in the lungs and getting rid of the heavy mucus during respiratory colds are peppermint, eucalyptus, spearmint, pine and rosemary.

Pain Relief

Although applying essential oils directly to the body is great for relieving some type of pain, inhaling it can be even more beneficial. Using essential oils this way is great for dealing with headaches, sore joints and overworked muscles and the ideal oils for relieving pain are made of chamomile, ginger, eucalyptus, rosemary, bergamot and clary sage.

Insect Repellent

Instead of applying some insect repelling product full of chemicals, you can keep at bay the annoying mosquitoes, house flies and fruit flies by putting a few drops of lemongrass, clove, cedarwood and rosemary into your aromatherapy diffuser and enjoy the pleasant smell without having to deal with unwelcome visitors.

Safer Alternative to Aromatic Candles

Unless you are buying 100% natural waxes like soy, coconut or hemp, chances are you are exposing yourself to toxic aromatic candles. Unfortunately, both scented and unscented candles are made with toxic paraffin wax that releases dangerous vapours like toluene and benzene which are most commonly found in diesel fuel exhaust. Some of them also contain heavy metals which when burned become airborne and cause an array of different types of behaviour, hormonal and general health-related issues. That’s how dangerous they are. So, instead of exposing yourself to that type of chemicals, opt for the most natural way to give your home, office, restaurant or spa a pleasant and relaxing smell by diffusing essential oils.

As of late, the way we are able to take care of our teeth has been improved by lots of new dental inventions. Power scalers, air polishers, loupes and lights have made our smiles wider and out teeth whiter. One particularly important discovery has to do with the benefits of using xylitol. It is a game changer in the dental improvements department because it strikes at the roots of dental problems and can prevent serious dental diseases from developing.

The traditional prevention in dental care includes brushing, flossing and fluoride toothpaste but with the addition of the xylitol, you can get even better results. For example, in people using xylitol dental products a 50% reduction in plaque levels has been noted. Xylitol as a natural five-carbon sugar polyol in a white crystalline condition tastes like regular sugar, but it is not an artificial sweetener. It contains 2.4 calories per gram and provides 40% fewer calories than the other carbohydrates. It is safe for diabetics as it has a glycemic index of 7. It is used in mouthwash and toothpaste products and here is a glimpse at the way it works and protects our dental health.

First of all, xylitol prevents caries in several different ways. It doesn’t allow bacteria to produce acid and it blocks the communication between bacteria so they can’t produce the polysaccharide slime that holds the biofilm together. Additionally, it raises the pH level of the mouth which means cariogenic bacteria can’t produce the acid that demineralizes the enamel as these bacteria live in a low environment. Xylitol helps to maintain high salivary calcium levels which are needed for mineralization of the teeth.

By using a xylitol mouthwash high-risk caries patients can treat problems caused by streptococci bacteria. It is scientifically proven that xylitol in combination with chlorhexidine inhibits streptococci more efficiently in comparison to when chlorhexidine is used as an ingredient of the mouthwash on its own. This is highly beneficial for reducing MS transmission from mother to child. Also, the use of xylitol mouthwash offers a healthy way to freshen the breath avoiding the harmful effects of alcohol which is a common ingredient. It also provides a beneficial palate cleansing when used in combination with brushing and flossing. It is advisable to be used twice a day and as it is easy to use and you can be sure that the difficult to reach parts of the mouth (which you might miss) will be cleaned and left with fresh smelling breath.

Furthermore, a xylitol toothpaste is another great option for keeping the teeth and gums clean and healthy. You can choose a toothpaste with or without fluoride but make sure there is 100% xylitol in the ingredients. Also, mannitol, maltitol, sorbitol or HSH (blended polyols) should be avoided because cavity-causing bacteria thrive on these artificial sweeteners. According to scientific research, using a toothpaste with xylitol can lead to a decrease in Streptococci mutant colonies in the saliva, a decrease of the amount of secreted saliva and an increase of the pH value. The cariostatic effects on the tooth enamel can get improved when there’s xylitol in a fluoride toothpaste. Xylitol on its own, on the other hand, helps in caries control.

To sum up, the evidence of the beneficial use of the xylitol can’t and shouldn’t be overseen. As going to the dentist to fix the dental problems might be an expensive trip, preventing the problems from happening in the first place should be your priority. Since xylitol is widely available in health food stores in a variety of forms including toothpaste and mouthwash, you now have one more reason to smile.

With the internet explosion, almost everything can be bought online and delivered to your front door. Even pharmaceutical products are no exception. Not only are you able to purchase a variety of supplements, vitamins, and dental care products online, but the same goes for prescription medicine.

The idea of purchasing medication online and from the comfort of your home has obvious benefits for consumers. For one, ordering from an online pharmacy store means lower costs and convenience for people living in rural areas and those who are unable to reach a pharmacy easily. And for housebound patients, the option of having medications delivered to the door helps them stay self-sufficient. Then there are also the people who prefer to purchase pharmaceutical products anonymously because they are uncomfortable dealing with a pharmacist face-to-face.

What’s more, purchasing from an online pharmacy can be a lot more cost effective. Not in terms of the price as you’d pay for your medication, but in terms of the transportation costs you’d spend driving from your GP to a pharmacy. With one short phone call, this can all be avoided. Additionally, many pharmacies offer you to create a user profile through which you can enjoy certain perks if you’re a frequent shopper, like for instance, coupons, discounts and free shipping.

As you can see, there are many reasons why people prefer to order from an online pharmacy store. However, as with purchasing anything on the Internet, there are also potential risks involved. To avoid scams that can cost you your money and health, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission recommends to buy from pharmacies that list their full contact details, and require valid prescriptions signed by healthcare professionals. Any pharmacy that doesn’t ask for prescriptions may be a possible scam.

Additionally, a legitimate pharmacy store will also offer the option to consult with a licensed pharmacist, whether by the phone or by email. This way, you can talk to a professional about some questions you may have – like for instance about possible interactions with other medications you’re currently taking.

The reality is that the benefits online pharmacies offer outweigh the potential risks. Given the ageing population and the increase in patients with chronic illness, purchasing pharmaceutical products online will be an even more preferred option. Luckily, in Australia, the market is already dominated by the many reliable and safe Australian pharmacy chains, so the risk of getting scammed is relatively low.

Are you the lucky owner of oily skin? No, I’m not being sarcastic as this skin type can certainly be considered a blessing. As it turns out, oily skin is considered to be better at warding off wrinkles as opposed to dry or normal skin. Not to mention how oils created by our skin help relieve dryness, keep the skin smooth and elastic, and ensure a healthy glow. But unfortunately, people with oily skin regularly struggle with enlarged pores, blackheads and acne, even years after they are out of the „teenage phase“.

The mistake that many people make when it comes to dealing with oily skin, is that they use harsh products which strip the skin entirely of its healthy sebum layer. This prompts the skin to overcompensate by producing even more sebum which in turn leads to even more breakouts and aggressive acne, turning the process into a vicious circle. So, what is the right way to deal with this? Here are some tips on how to adopt a proper oily skin care routine and turn your skin from greasy to luminous.

Retinoids – First Line of Defence

Retinoids, or in other words – serums and creams containing vitamin A, can work wonders for preventing acne. Vitamin A helps reshape the lining of the pores, allowing excess oil to come out easily and preventing it from getting trapped and causing a blackhead, or a pimple. When the oil is out on the surface of the skin, it’s much easier to clean the excess out. This kind of products are recommended for nightly use, as they help prepare the skin for the cleaning treatment in the morning. Besides being a staple in oily skin care, vitamin A products also speed up cell turnover, making them one of the best anti-ageing products. Quite the win-win!

Find the Right Cleanser

A combination of natural exfoliating acids and potent antioxidants is something to look for in your morning cleanser. For instance, the amazing healing and anti-inflammatory ability of lavender oils combined with the antibacterial properties of tea tree oil is a proven way to control those dreaded breakouts. While it might seem counter-intuitive to use oil-based cleansers, in reality, the oil in the face wash attracts the skin’s excess sebum, so when you rinse it off it goes away easier. You can alternate these types of potent products with more calming cleansers containing ingredients, such as rosemary extract, which can help soothe any inflammation.

Don’t Forget to Hydrate!

One of the biggest mistakes that oily-skinned folks can make is skipping moisturising. After a cleansing face wash, moisturising is essential for keeping the skin’s barrier healthy and hydrated so it can block out external threats, such as bacteria or UV rays, better. But don’t use thick creams and heavy ingredients such as coconut oil or shea butter as they are known to clog pores. Instead, go for lightweight serums and lotions based on glycerin or hyaluronic acid.

Modern times, modern health problems. The perfect example for this would be the impact of technology on our lifestyles today, and the back pain issues as a consequence. Yes, as sad as it might sound, about 70 to 90% of Australians experience back pain at one point in their lives, and the sedentary lifestyles we tend to lead today certainly have their influence.

The back pain can differ, from mild to severe, from occasional to chronic, and there are many methods that are used to treat it, whether it’s medication, in the form of painkillers, yoga, meditation, massage, and of course, the affordable, and DIY methods known as applying ice.

The thought of applying ice on the back can be terrifying for some people, and it needn’t be so, considering the cooling effects can be achieved thanks to the biofreeze pain relieving gel, or so called topical pain reliever.

Created from herbal extracts (such as the Ilex paraguariensis), and menthol, with the addition of glycerine, methylparaben, isopropyl alcohol, silicon dioxide, and water among the main ingredients, the biofreeze gel was created to provide muscle and joint relief with the help of menthol’s natural cooling effects.

This is the sort of gel, recommended to be used up to three or four times a day, rubbing a thin gel layer on the affected area, known for being therapeutic as it can penetrate the skin quickly, soothing the discomfort. The way cold therapy (also called cryotherapy) works is through decreasing the blood flow of the affected pain area, while at the same time increasing the circulation in the skin.

The biofreezing gel has this in common with ice, though unlike it, it’s almost twice as powerful, it doesn’t cause stiffness, and numbness. Also, as opposed to painkillers, the gel isn’t addictive, there’s no drug interaction upon applying it, and there are low levels of toxicity.

It’s good to mention back pain isn’t the only discomfort that this gel provides relief for; it does so too with pain in waist, neck, shoulders, knees, elbows, hips, and ankles. People experiencing discomfort from sore muscles, sprains, strains, and bruises after workouts could also make use of it, as well as people suffering from arthritis and tendinitis pain.

This type of therapy is most efficient when combined with professional health treatments, as those provided by massage therapists, and chiropractors, so don’t hesitate to ask for professional advice, acquire the relieving gel, and start living a life without pain and discomfort.

Everyone tries to look after themselves in the best way they can. Some try to keep their diet as healthy as possible by trying to entirely cut out the unhealthy fats, while still getting all of the necessary proteins and vitamins. Others try to workout as often as they can in order to keep their energy levels high and themselves active. Though, ideally the best possible way would be to strike a balance that lies somewhere between the two.

Those that are new to nutrition or going to the gym are usually encouraged to try everything and frequently switch out their exercise routines and the equipment they use in order to see what works and what doesn’t. Some people tend to stick to several commonly used machines and that’s perfectly fine if they feel it gains them the wanted results. But, some people have found that a few uncommon pieces of workout equipment have given them exactly what they were trying to achieve, as well as a few unexpected benefits.

A good example of strange equipment that can gain you some surprising perks would probably be the balance wobble board. It can come in many types, but the two most common ones are in the form of an elliptically shaped board (sort of like a bent skateboard), or a flat circle with a dome in the centre of its underside. You use the balance wobble board by standing on top and trying to stabilize yourself on it. And for such a seemingly simple exercise it does a great job of not only strengthening your legs and abs, but also significantly developing your sense of balance at the same time.

If you are looking to do more cardio oriented exercises, then your best option would probably be the
battling ropes. The way in which they differ from ordinary cardio centred workout routines like running or cycling is simply because they involve the use of the upper rather than the lower body. They are two inch thick ropes that you take in each hand and create wave motions with. Much like the balance wobble board, while it seems easy at first, after a while you begin to feel exactly how tasking it is to use a part of your body that isn’t usually so heavily involved in cardio workouts. But if you keep at it, it will also give some much more impressive results compared to the usual means.

Only you can decide if either of these items works well for you, or if you would prefer to stick to the more commonly used machines in the gym. But, at the end of the day, the equipment won’t matter even half as much as the dedication and effort that you decide to put in.

We’re no strangers to the beneficial effects of heat. After all, Roman baths and Finnish saunas have existed for centuries and today are used more than ever. But not everyone can put aside the time and money, and visit the local sauna as often as they should in order for the heat therapy to have any effect. Luckily, portable infrared saunas are becoming the next big thing in the world of home spa treatments.

The beauty of an infrared spa is that it replicates the same effects as traditional spas, only at a much lower temperature, which makes the experience more pleasant. Moreover, it’s small, and can be easily moved around the house. Instead of being surrounded by sweaty strangers, with this kind of portable sauna you can relax in the middle of your living room. But besides this convenience, there are also plenty of amazing health benefits to look forward to if you decide to buy infrared sauna.

A Healthy Method of Detoxification

Sweating is the most effective way of cleansing your body from toxins. And opposed to traditional saunas where sweating fells excruciating, the infrared sauna emits a balanced amount of heat which does not feel strenuous, but is in fact quite pleasant. Plus, there’s no steam which can interfere with breathing. That’s the reason why doctors recommended to buy infrared sauna if you’re suffering from heart problems or have breathing difficulties such as asthma.

Shed Kilos, Eliminate Cellulite

And when you sweat you also shed. Extra kilos. Simply by lying in an infrared sauna for around 30 minutes, you can burn roughly 600 calories – around the same amount as if you had a nice core workout. And that’s not all. Because the infrared rays enter deep under the skin, they can help you eliminate the worst enemy to your beach body – cellulite. Cellulite is toxic waste stored in fat cells beneath the skin which can become trapped and accumulate in large quantities, resulting in the dreaded orange peel look. But the heat from the infrared sauna penetrates the fat cells and pushes the cellulite towards the surface where it is eliminated through sweat.

Relieves Pain in Muscles and Joints

You know what’s another great advantage of heat penetrating deep beneath the skin? It can reach the muscles, and thus allow them to enjoy the benefits of heat therapy. Not only does the infrared heat help eliminate minor aches, but it can also help decrease the pain from some chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia. Moreover, it prompts blood circulation which delivers more oxygen to the muscles, reducing soreness and allowing them to recover faster. The rays can even go so far as to reach the joints, and thus help alleviate the symptoms of arthritis.

Do you dream of having whiter teeth and the smile of a celebrity? Veneers can help you achieve that!

Veneers are becoming increasingly popular because in addition to been able to restore the aesthetic aspect of a smile, these porcelain coverings are also strong, thin, and durable. Whether you have severely discoloured or stained teeth, chipped teeth, small gaps in-between front teeth, or misshaped or short front teeth, veneers can help address these problems, giving you much more confidence in your look.

Here are a few reasons why veneers might be right for you.

Feel Natural
Veneers are custom-made shells of tooth-colored material that cover the front surface of the teeth to improve their appearance. When they are designed and placed by a highly skilled cosmetic dentist, the results can be absolutely satisfying. But keep in mind that choosing a professional who doesn’t really understand the science of veneers and lead to disappointing results.

Durable
Once placed, veneers are very strong and will resist most of the forces placed upon them by a normal diet. In fact, when properly cared dental veneers can last from a decade to up to 30 years. This means you won’t need to continually go back to your dentist’s office to replace them.

The Process is Convenient
Generally, a full set of dental veneers can be done with three visits to the dental office and within a few weeks. In the first appointment, a consultation will be done to evaluate your teeth and plan the treatment. On the second visit, the cosmetic dentist will prepare your teeth for veneers, take an impression of your teeth and send them to the laboratory so the custom-made veneers can be made. On the last visit, the dentist will bond the veneers to the surface of your teeth.

Better Option Than Tooth Whitening
In order to make their teeth whiter, people often opt to whiten their teeth, but not all of them get the results they want. Factors that contribute for their dissatisfaction include tooth sensitivity, dental fluorosis, and intrinsic staining. So, whitening is not always the best option to get a celebrity smile. In cases like this, dental veneers can be a more suitable dental treatment option.

Easy to Maintain
The maintenance of your veneers is as simple as caring for natural teeth. You should brush and floss your teeth as you normally would to prevent dental problems and regular check-ups will ensure that your veneers are kept looking good for years to come.

Poor oral hygiene, smoking and eating junk food are just some of the things that can cause plaque and tartar to invade your teeth and ruin your dental health. When you don’t brush and clean your teeth regularly all sorts of bacteria will thrive on them, which eventually form into a sticky, colourless layer of bacteria know as dental plaque, which is usually the main reason for cavities and gum infection. If left untreated, the build-up of plaque on your teeth can lead to more serious dental problems such as periodontal disease, gingivitis and tooth loss.

Toothache, enhanced tooth sensitivity to cold or hot drinks, yellow or brown stains on the surface of a tooth are just some of the signs that plaque and cavities have started to ruin your dental health. To avoid further damage on your teeth, you should schedule a dental appointment at a reputable clinic where a professional dental practitioner can examine your teeth and recommend a treatment for your specific dental problem. Designed to restore the beauty and function of teeth damaged by decay, dental filings are the best restorative dental treatment for oral health problems like cavities and plaque. They can also be used for restoring the shape of cracked or broken teeth.

To determine if you’re a suitable candidate for this type of restorative dental treatment, your dentist will consider the extent of the damage, the location where the filling should be placed and whether you’re allergic to certain materials. The treatment is usually completed in a single dental visit, but more appointments may also be required if more teeth have been damaged by plaque and decay. The filling procedure is often done under a local anaesthesia that numbs the area around the decayed teeth. The dentist can use various instruments to remove the decayed area including an air abrasion tool, a drill and some dental clinics have special lasers for this purpose that can remove tartar and plaque quickly and easily.

After the tartar is removed the next step is to prepare the tooth for a filling. In order to achieve this, the dentist will remove any remaining debris and cavities and give the tooth the required shape for the type of filling that will be used to restore its shape and function. There are various types of fillings that differ in material, durability and price. Amalgam fillings are highly resistant and the least expensive filling type. The only downside is their dark colour, which doesn’t look very appealing and that’s why they are not the best option for treating front decayed teeth.

Due to their durability and natural appearance, porcelain fillings are the most popular, but also one of the more expensive types of fillings. They are bounded to the damaged teeth as to improve their shape and appearance. Porcelain is a durable material that is highly resistant to staining and can be made to match the colour of your natural teeth. Fillings that are made of composite resins (plastic) can match the colour of your teeth as well, but they are not as durable as porcelain and may chip and brake overtime. While porcelain fillings can last for 10 years and more (if cared for properly), whereas plastic fillings are usually expected to last between 3 to 5 years.

Although we are all aware of the importance of proper oral hygiene and regular dental visits, some of us still take oral health for granted, but the truth is that even a seemingly minor problem such as a lost filling can lead to serious dental problems. A lost filling leaves the inner layer of your tooth (the dentine) completely exposed to all kinds of damage. The dentine is very sensitive, so eating or drinking cold drinks can often be painful. Even if you don’t feel a lot of pain, this is a dental problem that requires an urgent trip to the dentist. When left untreated an exposed, the dentine can cause your tooth to become so decayed that the only solution would be tooth extraction. A missing tooth in the oral cavity can in turn lead to other serious dental problems, reduced chewing ability and gum infection, being just some of them.

Before we take a look at some other dental problems that can occur due to a lost filling, let’s first see why fillings fall out. Well, beside the fact that nearly half of all adult Australians do not brush or floss regularly, they also skip regular visits to dentists Melbourne dental surgeons reveal. Regular dental visits are required to detect any potential problems with fillings. During the dental examination, the dentist can detect issues such as decay around the filling, uneven wear or cracked spots on the filling. In all these scenarios, professional dentists Melbourne dental experts will suggest to replace the lost or damaged filling with a new one that can do a better job at protecting the structure of your natural tooth.

A lost filling not only exposes the dentine of your tooth to external influences, but also causes the pulp inside to get painfully irritated, leading to a disease known as pulpits, which can cause significant damage to your overall dental health. A filling that has fallen out, usually leaves a big hole in your tooth, where food can easily accumulate and make cleaning harder. Proper replacement with the right filling material is the best treatment for a lost filling. Patients usually choose between an amalgam and a composite filling material. The best choice for frontal teeth is a composite filling simply because it’s designed to be strong and appear very natural. Back teeth require a durable and long lasting filling material such as amalgam since they are in charge for most of the chewing.

Many people experience a paralysing fear of visiting a dentist. However, this is not something that happens only before a potentially painful tooth extracting procedure or gum operation – there are people who are scared from the mere thought of actually stepping foot in a dentist’s office. However, years of avoiding to check the condition of your teeth could result in really bad dental health. So besides the fear, many people also face with the shame of having to show their dentist a mouth full of rotten and decayed teeth.

The first step in all official dental examinations is talking with your dentist. Be open about the state of your teeth and any pre-existing conditions. It is important for him to get a detailed picture of your dental history. Also, this is a good chance to inform him/her about your fear and anxiety. Being aware of this, the dentist will try to relax you in order to perform any procedure that needs to be done. Dentists usually undergo training courses where they gain skills and knowledge on how deal with anxious patients, so don’t worry, you’re in safe hands.

Once your dentist is being introduced to your oral history, he can begin inspecting your teeth. Using a metal probe and a small angled mirror, the dentist will check for tooth decay, gum swelling and any redness that could indicate inflammation or gum disease. He might also find signs of present or future problems that could arise that you aren’t aware of yet and treat them before they get worse. If you are a smoker, having your oral cavity inspected can be essential for early detection and prevention of oral or throat cancer.

Usually, your dentist will suggest that he performs some non-invasive procedures like scaling and polishing, which will improve the look of your teeth. They are not painful nor uncomfortable at all. Scaling is essentially scraping away the accumulated plaque, while polishing smoothens the surface of the teeth. For extra assurance that all is good, you can ask your dentist to perform a dental X-ray. This involves biting into a bit of plastic which takes an x-ray image. An x-ray image can show any irregularities in your bite, the state of your teeth’s roots and any inflammation that might be going on under your gums.

The last step is discussing treatment options with your dentist if there are any potential problems detected. If there aren’t any, then just some advice on how to take care of your pearly whites is all you’ll need before making your way home. Now that you have mustered up the courage and managed to make your appointment, I’m sure you are less scared of undergoing dental examinations. But here’s the real thing you should be afraid of – living in constant tooth pain and having to pull your teeth out before you even get old. So take care of your oral health, it really is a huge wealth!

It is wrong to think that the main benefit of getting implants is merely aesthetic. Although it may be what primarily leads many to resort to the treatment, the advantages are even greater than what people actually know. Missing teeth don’t only take away your smile and confidence, but they also cause numerous negative effects on your oral health, such as chewing difficulties, bite changes, bone loss, shifting and drifting teeth and changes in the jaw joint. So, the decision to replace missing teeth with dental implants is a smart investment both for your appearance and oral health in general.

In the dental industry, there are of course other options available to replace missing teeth, as are fixed bridges and removable dentures. However, what makes dental implants a better, more effective and durable solution is the fact they are basically artificial roots, made out of titanium (a metal resistant to corrosion), implanted into the jawbone in the place of the original tooth. Before the artificial tooth (crown) can be affixed to the artificial root implant post, there is a healing period depending on the patient and the stability of the implant post followed by abutment placement over the post.

Advantages of choosing dental implants over conventional tooth replacement methods are:

A beautiful, natural-looking outcome – Pretty much like natural teeth, implants are designed to be a stable, reliable and natural-looking restorative solution.

Prevent and minimise bone loss – Because implants transmit chewing forces to the jaw bones, they help maintain bone and facial structure. Missing teeth may lead to shifting teeth and loss of facial structure.

Preserve surrounding teeth – With conventional bridges, surrounding teeth must be ground for support. Inserting an implant in place of a missing tooth prevents damage on the adjacent healthy teeth.

Comfort – Teeth implants don’t require palatal plates used with conventional dentures, so patients feel no obstruction when eating, talking and smiling with them.

Although implants have a very high success rate, over 95%, they are not for everyone. Generally, a person who does not have any serious health issues and has no problem with regular tooth extraction or other oral surgical procedures is considered a good candidate for teeth implants surgery. But it is crucial for the person to have enough jaw bone to hold and support the implant.

Like natural teeth, teeth implants require brushing and flossing to be kept clean. As soon as you get your implants, you can expect your dentist to recommend you the proper cleaning procedure and schedule regular dental checkups to ensure that your bite is right and your implant is not loose.

Smiling is good for your health, and the smile itself is the best accessory you can wear so why not share more of it. Schedule an appointment with your dentist to evaluate whether dental implants are an option for you!

We all know the infrared technology is nothing new, but it became particularly popular around the early 2010s and since scientists developed the modern sauna thanks to it, we have quite the reason to love it. Almost every well-equipped gym around the world, as well as all four star hotels and spas started installing infrared saunas and today, seven years after, the infrared sauna craze is still going strong just as it was back then.

Instead of warming the air in a place where the heat is to later on transfer to the body (this is the traditional method), the infrared sauna works its magic through emissions from the infrared light that belongs to the invisible spectrum of colors that unlike the ultraviolet, are not harmful at all.

The color absorbs around 80% to 93% of the skin’s surface, which means that high temperatures, like the ones in traditional saunas, are not necessary. This is why many people are opting for a portable infrared home sauna that they can enjoy in any part of the house, whenever they want to. The infrared home sauna is a practical and affordable device that can change your everyday routine for the better, so instead of slouching on the couch after a hard day at work, you can reap all the benefits this portable sauna offers and feel like a true royalty afterwards.

One of the main benefits of the infrared sauna is that it purifies the cells from all accumulated toxins. According to many studies, sweating can eliminate toxins such as arsenic, cadmium and mercury. Apart from this, detoxification helps repair the damage caused by these toxins, helps the body regenerate the cells and tissues and strengthens the immune system. This means that infrared sauna can also help you combat all kinds of skin problems and disorders such as acne, eczema and psoriasis.

Finally, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that by choosing to use an infrared sauna one can notice better and some say even quicker result rather than with traditional ones thanks to the implementation of the goodies latest technologies offer. Yes, I know what you might be thinking right now and, believe me, it’s true: a sauna session a day, keeps illnesses at bay and the doctor away. So what are you waiting for? Let all those toxins out of your body and enjoy a relaxing spa day in the comfort of your own home whenever and however you want to!

Whenever we think of trends and the changes in styles we could go for, have you noticed how usually somehow it all revolves around the closet and clothing choices? Although nothing new under the sun, it’s good to remember there’s a facial feature that has a great role in the appearance and styling game as well, one that mustn’t be overlooked: the eyebrows. This is something celebrities are well aware of and have been using to their advantage for setting more trends, such as the ultra-skinny brows of the 90s and beginning of 00s.

Luckily, today we’re facing a shift towards the natural beauty, so ultra-skinny is replaced by the full brows. Knowing how much the eyebrows can affect our look, we can’t just leave out their importance whenever we take our appearance into account. Sadly, however, we’re not all blessed with the full natural brows. No matter what the reason may be, whether it’s alopecia, scars or naturally sparse brows to blame, the answer to the arches’ woes is cosmetic eyebrow tattooing.

While it may seem like a solution that wasn’t invented that long ago, eyebrow tattooing, and tattooing in general, found its beginnings in ancient times considering more proofs emerge of Egyptian mummies who still have their tattoos on. The whole process of tattooing has been changing over the years and cosmetic eyebrow tattooing is no exception either. The first attempts at this, along with the whole scope of permanent makeup, happened throughout the 1930s, but it was the decades that followed when a real craze was formed for this makeup solution.

Fast forward to today, with the huge influence of technology, eyebrow tattooing happens to be a rather painless and desirable solution to getting the full arches look, especially if you waste a great deal of time on drawing them out every morning (flawless beauty doesn’t always happen that easy). There’s the answer to everyone’s prayer since if it’s not exactly permanent treatment you’re after, you could go for the semi-permanent that lasts from either up to a year or five years maximum. This is possible thanks to the process of micropigmentation. What’s micropigmentation you ask?

It’s a non-invasive method consisting of applying natural pigments into the dermal layer of the skin. Unlike pencil drawing, it’s something you won’t have to worry about having it wash off and constantly reapplying it. There are different techniques that can be used, such as the small hair strokes to mimic the eyebrow hair, or enhancing the natural shape with a lift, resulting in different styles you can choose from, be it the block style or feathering though the block one is considered to be rather outdated as with the feathering you get a natural look.

Depending on the requirements, the treatment can take one to two visits and you can expect the outcome to be polished, natural finish that won’t give you further trouble as there’s low maintenance. If your worry is the pain, there’s numbing ointment added right after the brow shape is outlined so you won’t feel any more pain than that of plucking your eyebrows.

Life is a myriad of beautiful moments, moments that make it worthwhile and as such it should be one filled with smiles. Unlike previously thought, smiles are innate, they’re the facial expressions we inherit while we’re still in our mothers’ wombs. A smile is associated with pleasantness, it’s the natural accessory we can wear and the one people base their impressions about us on. As such, a smile is an important component of an individual’s self-esteem, yet we haven’t all been blessed with the perfect one… Thank God for dentistry.

Why shy away from your natural need when with some dental help you can have your dazzling smile back? There are all sorts of problems that might arise, from the nuisance of tooth decay, to gum disease and injury, all of which could result in tooth loss. Tooth extraction isn’t the end though, and dentures aren’t the only solution there is since there’s another long lasting alternative – dental implants. It’s interesting to note, it was in the 1950s when dentists, doctor Leonard Linkow among them, started inserting titanium and other metals into the jaw bones. However, these weren’t the only beginnings of implants considering ancient peoples, such as Egyptians, Chinese and Celts used golden ligature wire to replace missing teeth and stabilise the neighbouring teeth.

Dental implants are imitation of nature at its finest, with titanium acting as the tooth roots. Once surgically placed into the bone and integrated (over a certain period of time), the next step of the process is placing the abutments, i.e. the small posts that serve as support for the final addition – the implant crowns. Since implants are structures that stand alone, they only require the bone for support which makes them better than bridgework that relies on neighbouring teeth. The reason you should consider implants when missing teeth over a long period is because of preventing bone loss and preserving the facial structure.

The great thing about implants is their durability and their natural look. No one would be able to tell the difference when you get your implants and you’d be able to restore your dazzling smile, as well as your self-esteem. Implants don’t require any particular care other than that recommended for your natural teeth, brushing at least three times a day and flossing. Another reason they’re better than bridgework and dentures is that they don’t obstruct clear and understandable speech. Get those implants and prepare to be amazed!

One of the many things the late teens and early twenties of a person’s life are known for is the growth of wisdom teeth. The wisdom teeth are the upper and lower third and final molars, located at the very back of the mouth. Since these teeth erupt when the other 28 adult teeth are already in place, the jaw can turn out to be too small to provide enough space for the new teeth. That’s precisely why some wisdom teeth can emerge at an angle or get stuck. These wisdom teeth, known as impacted wisdom teeth, can cause pain and discomfort and lead to infections and serious damage to the neighboring tooth. So, if you are experiencing severe pain or discomfort from your wisdom teeth, you should definitely see a dentist.

Despite what many people think, impacted wisdom teeth don’t always need to be removed. However, according to a large number of highly respected dentists in our country, most impacted wisdom teeth have to be extracted because food and bacteria can get trapped around their edge, leading to a build-up of plaque. Plaque, on the other hand, can cause dental caries (tooth decay), gum (periodontal) disease, pericoronitis, cellulitis, abscess, and cyst formation. All of these are the strongest reasons for having one’s impacted wisdom teeth removed.

In order to determine whether your troublesome wisdom teeth need to be removed or not, your dentist will review your dental history, take X-rays, and examine your overall oral health and the condition of your wisdom teeth. If they advise you to get your problematic wisdom teeth out, you should know how the wisdom tooth extraction procedure goes, what to expect after it, and what you should and shouldn’t do once your wisdom teeth are removed.

First of all, before the procedure begins, your dentist or the oral and maxillofacial surgeon will give you a local anesthetic injection in order to numb the area around the tooth. If all of your wisdom teeth are to be extracted at the same time, your dentist or oral surgeon will most likely use a general anesthetic which will send you to sleep. This means that you won’t feel a thing during the whole procedure. Once the procedure is finished, you will be either given a short amount of time to recover (if you have received local anesthesia) or taken to a recovery room (if you have been given general anesthesia).

If you don’t want to complicate things and prolong your recovery period, you should follow your dentist’s instructions. Not disturbing the wound, not smoking, not spitting or using a straw, biting gently, eating soft foods, and relaxing are are some of the most common tips that can help you recover faster.

Giving or receiving a hickey is pretty easy and for some even pleasurable. Even though receiving a hickey in the heat of the moment may feel good at the time, the momentary pleasure you get from it, simply isn’t worth all the trouble and embarrassment it causes afterwards. While some people wear a hickey like a badge of pride, others find it really embarrassing and want to get rid of the hickey as fast as possible.

What is a hickey?

A hickey or a love bite is just like any other bruise, e hemorrhage below the skin caused by excessive sucking. When the soft skin is sucked hard, the blood vessel below the skin’s surface rupture, pouring blood into the surrounding tissue. Since the blood in that area doesn’t receive oxygen and dries out, the hickey immediately turns red, dark purple or brown in color.
There are many effective methods for getting rid of hickey in a relatively short time. However, keep in mind that hickeys are just like average bruises, therefore it will take some time to heal completely. Don’t expect miracles or fast results – these home remedies will simply speed up the healing process. If you’re wondering how to get rid of the hickey fast, check out our list of the best hickey removal methods worth trying:

Ice

This method is most effective in the first 12 to 24 hours after receiving a hickey. Wrap some ice cubes in a clean towel and press the cold compress lightly against the affected area. Remove the ice for several minutes, and then repeat the process. The ice will minimize the swelling caused by the hickey by reducing the amount of blood flowing from the ruptured blood vessel.
You can also put a spoon in the freezer for a few minutes and then hold the cold spoon to the skin for ten to fifteen minutes. Repeat this process every hour the first day of receiving the hickey.

Toothbrush

This method can be quite painful, but really effective when it comes to reducing hickeys. Lightly brush the hickey and the area around it with a stiff-bristled toothbrush to break up the clotted blood and stimulate blood circulation. This process will restore nutrient supply to the area and your hickey will heal faster. However, don’t press too hard because this can make the appearance of the hickey worse or cause bleeding. Wait about fifteen minutes and then apply a cold compress.

Banana Peel

This is one of the best natural remedies for hickeys. You can use the inside of a banana peel to soothe the surface of the skin and minimize the appearance of the hickey. Banana peel has soothing and cooling properties that will help you get rid of the hickey. All you have to do is to remove the peel from a ripe banana, put them in the fridge to cool them and then place the banana peels on the bruise for about ten to twenty minutes. Repeat the procedure two or three times and your hickey will be gone within a day.

Coin

The coin method is slightly painful but is highly recommended if you want to get rid of your “love bite”. You will have to hold and stretch the affected area so that the skin is well stretched out. Then, using a large coin, scrape outwards to distort the hickey. Spread the blood clot outwards so that your hickey ends up looking like a scrape mark. Continue repeating this process and applying cold compress until you see some results. This is considered as one of the quickest methods to clear hickeys, but be careful and don’t use a coin on your lips or around your mouth.

Heat

After 24 to 48 hours, if you still have a visible hickey, you can apply heat or warm compress. The warm compress will allow new blood to circulate around the affected area. This will break up the old blood that has made the hickey visible and dark colored by bringing fresh blood to the area. For this method, simply soak a washcloth in warm water and place it on the bruised area for five minutes. Reheat the cloth if necessary and repeat the process for two more times.

I have been practicing yoga for five years now. Since I was constantly learning and feeling the benefits it offers, I decided to reserve five days of my week for this healing practice. However, after the birth of my now six-month-old daughter, my daily yoga routine had to change. Many of my close friends and relatives, as well as some of my social network followers have asked me how I manage being a devoted mother and a dedicated yogi. Their curiosity and honest interest is precisely what inspired me to write this short article. I truly hope you will enjoy reading it.

Okay, shall we begin? First things first – the mornings. My beautiful baby girl Isabella usually sleeps until 6 AM, which is why I always set my alarm at 5 AM. The first thing I normally do after I get out of bed is kiss my husband (yes, I am a hopeless romantic and I wouldn’t like it any other way) and take a refreshing shower. Next, I drink one third of my daily dose of water with two or three Stevia liquid drops and eat a couple of bananas. “No morning cup of coffee?”, some of you might wonder. Well, my dear readers, this may surprise you, but coffee has never been my cup of tea.

On the days when my husband is allowed to start his work late(r), he uses this opportunity to spend an hour or two with Izzie, while I perform several gentle and relaxing yoga poses on my two eco-friendly natural rubber yoga mats (one day, I realized that performing certain asanas on two yoga mats is way more comfortable than doing it on one, especially since the first one I bought is pretty small). The yoga postures that help me get my day started are child’s pose, cat and downward dog pose, as well as triangle pose. I love how they allow me to stretch my body and calm my mind without leaving me exhausted.

Ordinarily, I spend the rest of my day (with the exception of one late night hour) taking care of Isabella, cooking, tidying up around the house, and reading (whenever I have the chance). Oh, I should probably mention that yesterday I tried to include Izzie in my morning yoga session, as I got inspired by an amazing article about a mother who <a rel="nofollow"href="https://www.yahoo.com/beauty/mom-breastfeeds-while-doing-yoga-143017649.html" target="_blank">breastfeeds while doing yoga. It is a wonderful and heart-warming proof of the immense soothing power yoga has.

At the end of the day, after I put Izzie to sleep, I begin my evening yoga sequence, which normally lasts about an hour or an hour and a half. I repeat the same yoga poses I do in the morning, but now I test my body’s abilities by trying harder and longer. I always finish my evening yoga practice lying and resting in corpse pose.

I know that being a loving mother and wife without giving up on your interests is not an easy mission, but I believe that, with the right planning and organization, everything can be done.

When it comes to lingerie the baby doll has always been a popular choice. It is super versatile as it makes comfortable sleepwear as well as being something sexy for you to wear. It is a great design seeing as you can correct and balance anything you might not like about your body which in turn makes you feel alluring and very desirable. There are a few ways on how you can choose the right baby doll lingerie for your body type. We were not all built the same and some of us like showing some parts of our body that others might not. There are so many different types of baby doll lingerie out there so you are sure to find the right one for you. There are a few things to consider like design, body shape, bust size, sleeves, fabrics, details, colours, and much more. If you want to know more then keep reading below to find out what baby doll lingerie would look best on you.

Body Shape – If you want to keep things modest you should try a baby doll that is all one piece that doesn’t have any slits or sheer fabrics. This type of model is great for those of you who want to conceal their stomach as long as you choose something that isn’t tight. There are a few baby dolls that have a slit down the middle which can also look great if you want to show a little more. Sheer fabrics also look great on slim figures but also look great on bigger women who want to show some skin. If you want to show your legs and bottom then you should opt for a mid-waist baby doll. Make sure you choose some nice underwear to go with it. If you want to create the illusion of smaller hips then avoid anything with ruffles in this area.

Bust Size – Baby doll lingerie is meant to be comfortable and depending on your bust size this may vary. Girls who have smaller breasts can opt to wear baby dolls with no under wire or built in bras as they might not need the support as much. If you want the support then you can easily find baby dolls with built in bras or built in under wire. There is also baby doll lingerie that comes with built in push up bras if you really want to make your breasts the main focus.

Sleeves – While sleeveless baby dolls are great they might not be great for someone who wants to minimize the look of broad shoulders. You can find some great designs that include full length sleeves or even semi sleeved baby dolls. Halter necks also may soften the look of your shoulders but you should avoid ruffles to avoid the eye going to that point of your body.

Fabric Choices – There are so many fabrics to choose from when it comes to baby doll lingerie. Lace can look really feminine and sexy, especially if it’s sheer, but it can be rough to the touch. If you want something softer, then this might not be the best choice for you. Lycra and chiffon are also a very sexy choice but make sure the piece fits you perfectly before you buy it. Satin and silk are gorgeous but don’t hug your curves. Therefore, if that’s the look you are going for then this might not be your best choice either as it tends to hang loose. You should choose the fabric based on what you want the baby doll to look like.

Details – Most people overlook the details but they are what will catch your eye or someone who you want to look sexy for. Bows, ruffles, and anything else should be placed in areas you want to emphasize and draw attention to. Try not to go completely cover the top as they can look cheap and tacky but instead, opt for some nice jewellery. Adding simple details with some nice sparkly jewellery will make you look elegant instead of cheap and tacky.

Colour Choice – While you can choose whatever colour you think flatters you best, there are a few things you can keep in mind. Black is universally flattering and looks great on everyone, plus it makes you look a little slimmer than what you are. Red is nice but it can be really vibrant and white can make you look wider than you are. You should choose a colour that you think flatters your skin tone the most so choose a colour that you would usually wear on a day or night out.

Along with protecting your head and hair from the cold, a fancy, warm winter hat is a great addition to a winter style wrapping up your entire vision. So according to your style, requirements and preferences, what kinds of hats should you have in your closet? Or maybe, it’s a good option to have one from all types and make smart combos? After all, that’s the point of street styling, right?

When it comes to buying hats for women, you should know that this is a rather large category. There’s the all-times beanie which in most cases is knitted, the winter fedora hats which all ladies love, the cowboy winter hats and many, many more. For women who adore accessories, a store with a rich offer of hats for women is a real paradise.

The most important question: how do you wear them?
Every hat type is to be worn with various outfits and in various occasions. You can’t wear a beanie with Loubotins and a pencil skirt just like you can’t wear a fancy fedora with a tracksuit. There are rules.

The beanie

The beanie is generally seen as a sporty, kind of casual type of accessory. Therefore, you’d combine it with anything from a jeans, blouse, a jacket and boots combo, to a completely sporty one. However, there are some really fancy beanies out there, made of fine knit and expensive details which makes them a sub category of their own; these are to be worn with casual high heels or boots on heels.

The fedora

For all the classy yet stylish fashionistas – the fedora is what you’re looking for. Winter fedoras are made of a soft material, very cosy on the touch, but strong enough for making a sturdy hat stay on your head. These are the perfect addition to a fancy outfit and they are so good to be worn with either high heels or chic boots on high heels.

The fancy wide brim hat

This is the type of hat designed for ladies who are wearing their Loubotins all day long, pencil skirts and white shirts, red lipstick and expensive perfumes. Yes, the classy, elegant looking ladies who need to maintain a certain power look everywhere they show up. The wide brim hat winter edition is made of soft, warm material, opposite to the one designed for hot summer days on the beach. Mainly found in darker shades like black, brown or grey and the all-timer beige, the wide brim hat is perfect if you need to complement your elegant day or even night vision.

Hearing loss is one of those conditions that can either develop slowly from an earlier age or develop suddenly later in life. For each of these scenarios there are usually some indicators which can signal that a person has some hearing problems. Usually the first signs may pass unnoticed and most people don’t suspect anything until they really start having troubles hearing and understanding everyday speech. Being unable to clearly discern high-pitched voices or sounds is one of the most common symptoms. Asking people to often repeat themselves and having trouble hearing when there is background noise is also a quite common indicator. Some people may also experience ringing in the ears and frequent headaches. If you’re experiencing some of these conditions, the smartest thing to do is undergo a hearing examination to detect the problem.

Nowadays there are many methods that can help detect any hearing impairment problems. Hearing tests Melbourne experts recommend that people should go to routine examinations since this is the best way to quickly discover whether there are any health issues or not. Hearing tests are performed by qualified audiologists with the main purpose to examine a person’s ability to hear different sounds at different frequency levels. The whole procedure involves various stages that are designed to accurately pinpoint the possible causes as well as the severity of the hearing problem.

Here’s how the procedure goes. First, the audiologist examines the ears with a special instrument called auriscope which is a small hand-held device with a magnifying glass. Then he might use his voice to make soft or loud sounds to determine the extent of the hearing loss. The next stage involves different screenings that determine whether sounds can reach the brain. Reputable hearing tests Melbourne centres offer a variety of screenings for both adults and children, so there should be no problem for you to do the test that you need.

Hearing tests for adults

Pure tone audiometry

This type of test is done with an audiometer – a special machine that makes sounds at different volumes and frequencies. Pure tone audiometry is used to examine the hearing ability of both ears.

Whispered voice test

This is a very simple procedure that is used to check the hearing in each ear separately. The audiologist will tell you to cover one ear and he will then whisper various words and sounds at different volumes.

Speech perception

Also known as speech audiometry, this type of test examines how clear you can hear sounds and words. Speech perception can also help determine your ability to hear speech while there is some level of background noise.

Hearing tests for children

Play audiometry test

This is a simple process that is commonly used for children. The child is asked to do some easy task while listening to sounds in different volumes and frequencies.

Auditory Brainstem Response

This is a quick procedure for which the doctor uses special electrodes to examine how the brain responds to sounds. The sensors or electrodes are arranged on the head and neck, testing the nerve’s reaction to the sounds.

Tympanometry

Also known as impedance audiometry, this test is used to examine whether the middle ear is functioning properly or not. With tympanometry the audiologist can check for any changes in the pressure in the ear of the child.

Cozy nights beside the fireplace with hot and delicious drinks are the first thing that come to mind when you start to feel the cold breeze in the air. Well, winter is the perfect season to awaken the fashion goddess in you and reinvent your style.

Ladies, I’m sure many of you have faced situations of the kind when you have a full outfit planned, but you still feel that something is missing. Well, have you considered adding leather gloves to your outfit? They are the perfect winter accessory to complement almost all of your outfits. They give a classic and sophisticated touch to any look and come in wide range of designs and colours. Leather gloves women will not only amp up your style, but will also keep you warm during chilly winter days, helping you leave an unforgettable and unique fashion statement. Here are few tips to help you score the best deal and find the perfect model of leather gloves women.

Different types of leather

Their design and quality is determined by the type of leather from which the gloves are made. Here are the most trendy models of leather gloves that combine both style and comfort.

Sheepskin leather gloves

These are perfect for the cold winter weather as the sheep wool provides a natural and unique lining. Sheepskin gloves are more expensive than other models but their great durability makes them a smart fashion investment.

Deerskin leather gloves

These are extremely hard wearing and incorporate a classic yet stylish deign. Deerskin is a flexible material that is quite durable and gives the gloves a unique rugged look.

Cowhide leather gloves

These pieces of accessory are made from a thick and strong material and are great for protecting your hands from the cold weather. Cowhide gloves come with a casual design and are cheaper than sheepskin and deerskin gloves.

Goatskin leather gloves

When compared to cowhide, leather goatskin is softer and more delicate. The gloves manufactured form this type of leather are very comfortable to wear and come in a range of deigns and styles.

The style makes all the difference

What actually determines the style, is the length of the gloves. So, get creative and make a bunch of new winter looks by adding different sized leather gloves to your outfits. To achieve a royal princess look, go for elbow length gloves that will certainly leave a bold fashion statement. Shorter models on the other hand, go well with most outfits and give a classic touch to any winter combination.

Essential oils are actually not oils at all. They are complex chemical compounds derived from organic plant sources such as roots, seeds, flowers, bark, and so on. Only the scented particles are extracted from the plant using different kinds of methods and the other chemical components are left behind. These highly concentrated natural extracts are widely known for their healing and purifying properties. Because of their strong antioxidant properties people have been using essential oils for thousands of years in various different applications like perfumes, soaps, skincare products, aromatherapy and medicine.

Research has show that these oils have great healing properties and can be used to heal a large number of health conditions including arthritis, digestive issues, sore throat, congestion, joint pain, muscle fatigue, skin conditions, and many more.

There are hundreds of types of essential oils you can choose from and each of them has unique health benefits and therapeutic powers. When choosing essential oils you need to consider the effect they will have on you and your environment, the budget you have available since there are oils that are rare and much harder to extract and, of course, you need to consider the fragrance. The good thing is that you can also find the exact essential oil blend that will suit you the most. Various oils can be blended together in order to achieve a synergy. There are certain recipes that need to be followed when you are mixing them, but you can get an essential oil blend that has already been tested and proven that it works well.

Here is a list of some of the most popular essential oils and their unique health benefits.

Peppermint gives you a natural energy boost and also improves mental alertness. It can be used as a lotion, massage oil, mouthwash and it is very helpful with indigestion.

Lavender is a highly versatile oil and it is mostly used for its soothing properties. It relaxes both the mind and the body and may help in reducing inflammation. Applying just a small amount of this oil can reduce stress and help you get a good nights sleep.

Tea Tree is one of the most effective of all the essential oils. It is widely used to fight infections and improve your immune system. The healing benefits of the tea tree are really amazing. It can be used to treat skin conditions, cuts, burns, dandruff, and much more.

Chamomile is an essential oil that much like lavender has a calming effect. It is also a great mood booster and can be used in vapor therapy to reduce stress.

Rosemary is an oil that has rejuvenating effects on the body. It will help relieve headaches, improve your memory, relieve stress and stimulate circulation in the scalp.

It is easy to feel overwhelmed in the world we live in today, since all around us there is a lot of information available. There are many food and drink choices to choose from, so the basic needs of hunger and thirst can be satisfied in so many ways. The same goes for jobs – most jobs today demand a great deal of efficiency in a shorter period, doing different tasks. And as if this is not enough, we are surrounded by so much noise around with all the busy streets of vehicles and horn sounds, as well as face air pollution on a daily basis. Luckily, there are ancient methods that can be used nowadays to help relieve stress. People knew even centuries ago how to take care of their bodies and restore their health. One of these methods is the ancient Egyptian use of essential oils which we know as aromatherapy.

As humans, we have always relied on herbs and plants to keep our nutrients in check and help us with certain aches and pains. What made aromatherapy so popular and widespread is the use of oils and their many benefits for the overall well-being. The great thing of living in today’s world is we don’t even need to go to spa centres and spend money on massages and therapies to get the rest and relaxation we long for. When you decide to implement aromatherapy in your habits and your “me-time”, you have to make sure you buy natural oils because synthetic oils contain toxins and can clog your pores. When looking for that one aromatherapy must-have item, you need not look further than a diffuser. Diffusers can turn any room into a heavenly place by dispersing the herbal fragrance which is why they can also be multi-functional as they can replace room fresheners even in a nursery. Since there is a myriad of choices you will come across, you can easily find the essential oils diffuser to your taste.

Just a whiff of the aroma of essential oils can make you feel relaxed and rid you of the accumulated stress, making your home feel like the safe haven you can always go to when you need to recharge your energy. An essential oils diffuser can come in more varieties, the oldest ones being based on the principle of using heat. However this heat alters the scent and lessens the positive effects. This is why the latest diffusers are based on ultrasonic technology, which makes them preserve the oils in their pure form, as well as makes aromatherapy safe to do with no use of candles and flames.

Since they can elevate your mood and productiveness by setting a positive home atmosphere as well as help with your sleep, essential oil diffusers can also help you keep viruses away. This means cold and flu will not be your worry considering essential oils have anti-bacterial properties, which means they can keep your immune system in check. Ultrasonic diffusers create a mist, providing enough moisture to fight off microbes. Along with this, having the fragrance spread through your home can treat your headaches and muscle pain so you can save on money spent on painkillers. Every oil is specialised in providing certain benefits and having a diffuser gives you the chance to look up essential oil recipes and use a mix of your favourite oils.

There are many reasons why the yoga mat has become the most precious rectangular piece for every yoga practitioner. Therefore, it should go without saying that it makes a whole lot of difference whether the user is absolutely in love with their om piece of paradise. Below we will go over some of the main reasons why it is important to own the right type of mat and how it can influence the whole yoga experience.

Breathe in. Breathe out. But something seems to be out of tune. There simply isn’t enough space around you (how can someone be so ignorant and invade your space while you are trying to get the basics of astral projection? – This is the last thing you want to experience during a yoga class and believe it or not, yoga mats can really help claim your own territory. They will also prevent you from invading someone else’s personal space. However, this is not the reason why yoga mats were invented in the first place. They are not merely carpet-like boundaries between you and other bodies.

The purpose of these soft, yet strong meditation and exercise islands is support, above all. Support and relaxation and closely linked together, so if your knees, elbows, ankles and feet do not enjoy a comfortable surface underneath, chances are that you will get distracted by all that irritation. Regardless of whether you are doing stretching exercises, or you are meditating, the purpose of the yoga mat is to prevent unnecessary contact with any kind of surface. Plus, they allow you to choose the type of material that is most suitable for you – just do a quick research for the most comfortable yoga mats Australia offers as to get you started off on the right foot.

You might think to yourself: But isn’t yoga also about achieving re-connection with nature, so why should I use a mat if I am outdoors? Well, if you do decide to do yoga in nature without a mat, it will soon prove to be almost an impossible project, especially for a beginner. Until the mind gets used to rejecting the passing thoughts (the only process that leads to proper meditation after a full set of stretching exercises) every single thing will bother you: for starters, just think of bugs. Itchy skin is one of the top issues that arise and yoga teachers constantly repeat that yogis should ignore the urge to scratch themselves since they distract others and also sabotage the success of their own mediation.

It is true that yogis of old did not use any helping tools and some teachers are not in favor of mats that within their structure, contain damaging chemicals, however, as of late, more and more yoga mats are manufactured only with natural materials such as organic cotton or hemp.

Beyond their practical purpose, yoga mats are also a unique piece of equipment – it is the very precious lifestyle statement of yogis, therefore it should come as no surprise why you’ll be able to find hundreds of different styles of yoga mats Australia wide.

Even though technology rules our everyday lives and has helped us discover ground-breaking innovations health wise, still only a small percentage of the world’s population leads a healthy life. We are being daily bombarded with the benefits of eating healthy and being active, yet the number of serious diseases has doubled in the last decade. With all the emphasis being put on the importance of health and global community trying to raise awareness with the public of rare illness, very few concerns are focused on what seems to be the rising problem of the modern world – hearing loss.

Hearing loss is partially or totally losing the ability to hear and it can occur in one or both ears. Nearly 20% of all Australians have some type of hearing loss, and recent statistics show that the problem is more serious than it seems since noise is all around us. Let’s be realistic, today’s world is way louder than in the era of Sir Robert Menzies. From television, lawn mowers, setting speakers to their maximum and vehicles to work-related loud sounds (machines and machinery used in factories, manufacturing and mining industry), a lot of people are constantly exposed to dangerous noise levels of 85 decibels and over. This can cause permanent hearing loss. Doctors recommended maintaining the exposure to noise levels of below 75 decibels. They also recommend regular hearing assessment.

Acknowledging hearing loss and wearing a hearing aid can significantly improve sensorineura hearing loss (SNHL). Thanks to innovative technology implemented in almost every available hearing aid in Australia the loss of hearing is no longer a taboo. Regardless of the brand or model (or your lifestyle and hearing needs for that matter), telecoils, bluetooth technology, directional microphones and rechargeable batteries are just some of the features almost every hearing aid in Australia comes with. Plus, they are comfortable to wear and feature a discreet design. But hearing aids were not always as sophisticated as they are today.

The first hearing aid, known as the ear trumpet, was developed in the 19th century. It was in the shape of a funnel and it captured sound waves which were amplified and delivered to the outer ear canal. Later, the invention of the telephone helped revolutionise hearing aids.

In 1913, Siemens developed the first electronic amplified hearing aid. It was huge and users could feel the weight, which was not comfortable at all. With the invention of the vacuum tube, the transistor and the multi-channel compressor, two decades after the WWII, Daniel Graupe developed a six-channel hearing aid laying down the building blocks of modern hearing aids. In 1987, the first digital hearing aid was created. Since, there were constant developments and today there are three main types widely used: digital, wireless, invisible.

Digital hearing aids

These devices are smart enough to determine which sound or speech will be transferred to the ear receptor, differentiating the real sounds from the noise. One of the best features is their adaptability to reduce the noise source and enhance the speech so the user can understand them better.

Wireless hearing aids

These aids enable users to link the receiver and transmitter and communicate with each other without a problem. They have the capability to work together and interrupt incoming sounds and provide better signals for the hearer and wearer. In addition, wireless hearing aids have the functionality to be paired with Bluetooth streaming accessories (usually phones, TV, radio and a lot of other devices) and are the most modern hearing aids at the moment.

Invisible hearing aids

This is the most popular form of a hearing aid in Australia. They are tiny and custom made to the shape of user’s ear canal. Because of its small size, an invisible hearing aid can be inserted deep inside patient’s ear canal where no one can notice it.

Technology will continue to evolve; new and better devices will be introduced on the market, but until then, these devices are your best option to your hearing loss problem.
