If you happen to store liquids in your facility other than rainwater, you should consider having a strip of bunding to prevent any spills from reaching nearby waters or just getting out of hand. This is actually required by law, meaning that there’s no other way to handle this than with containment bunds when it comes to keeping the outer parameter of your facility safe. While concrete is the recommended material for almost every containment bund but it has to be provided with a coating that can withstand the stored liquid.

Coating

The construction resin (coating) of the containment bund needs to be approved by WSAA and Sydney Water standards, which we’ll talk about in a bit. This basically means that the spill containment bund coating needs to undergo various tests in all types of water utility infrastructure. The coating of the bund should hold up against all the chemicals present at the facility and it should protect the bund from dissolving, which prevents the spill from escaping. Even if the chemicals present at your facility were to mix – the coating should be able to prevent the mixture from breaking down the bund.

Standards

The environmental protection agencies in South Australia, Victoria, and Western Australia have issued a set of guidelines which may slightly vary from state to state. But despite that, they all have one thing in common and that is to help you pick the best long-term protection whilst staying in compliance with local regulations. The Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA) has published a manual regarding the selection and application of protective coatings which helps you with surface preparation, inspection, selection, supply and even with the repair of protective coating systems.

Construction

A spill containment bund needs to have a construction that will fulfill multiple conditions not only for it to be in compliance with the law but also in order to have the best protection in almost any possible scenario. First of all, the bund area needs to be able to retain 120% of the volume of your largest tank and for flammable liquids, it needs to retain 133% of the total capacity of your largest tank.

You also need to have a blind collection sump and a regular collection sump drains that will lead to the sewer or a slop tank(s) and a high-level detector installed on each tank. Also, you need to undercover the loading and unloading areas and have a system that will make sure spills from a hose coupling won’t fall outside the bund area.

If your job entails testing the integrity of the insulation, then you’re probably someone who needs to use an insulation resistance tester on a frequent basis. If you don’t have one and are looking to change that, you’ll find that there’s a wide range of models available to pick from. But how do you pick the best insulation tester for the task? Well, just like when buying any testing instrument, there are a couple of important factors to consider.

First and foremost, you should consider its reliability. While that’s extremely difficult to do, the best way to go about it is to buy from a reputable brand, such as Fluke, Kyoritsu, Amprobe, and Mastech. Some of the testers from Kyoritsu, Fluke, Amprobe, and Mastech can do more than test for insulation – they can test for continuity, loop, and RCD. Depending on your specific needs, you may want a multimeter rather than just an insulation tester.

Next, you have to consider the tester’s voltage. In order to pick a tester that has enough output test voltage, you should write down the nominal voltage of the equipment you want to test. The higher the nominal voltage of the equipment, the more test voltage you’ll need from the tester. Furthermore, you need to consider the number of tests you’ll perform. If you’re performing a fair amount of them, you’ll need a tester with better overall quality and durability, as well as one that has convenience features.

Moreover, you’ll have to consider the environment in which the tests are going to take place. That will help you select the important features, and as aforementioned, it will help you decide whether you need an instrument to test for more than just insulation. A multimeter can be extremely convenient to carry around instead of carrying around multiple instruments.

Lastly, you have to consider your experience level. An insulation tester is only as good as the experience level and knowledge of the operator. If you’re inexperienced, look for a device that’s simple and has limited functions. However, you can also get a medium- to high-end model and go through the manufacturer’s manual and basic texts to get a better idea of the functionality of the tester. As long as you do some on-the-job training for safe and proper use of the tester, and as long as the tester meeds the application’s needs, you shouldn’t have a hard time using it.

Running a successful bakery business takes more than a passion and skills for creating baked goods. Besides stocking yourself with quality ingredients which are crucial for creating this heavenly-smelling baked goods, having the right type of equipment is paramount.

When it comes to choosing bakery equipment Australia stores can provide you with a range of tools and machinery required for this purpose. Finding the right type of bakery equipment Australia bakers and pastry chefs claim to be one of the crucial factors and the first step to creating heavenly soft and melt-in-your-mouth baked goods.

Oven

A list like this cannot start without mentioning this appliance. Even heating, optional convection and self-cleaning are some of the most important features you need to look for. When it comes to the commercial type of ovens, there are many of them available on the market and each type is suitable for particular baking needs. For example, while steam and deck ovens are a great option for a bigger bakery, smaller bakeries or cafes would benefit a lot from a convection type of oven.

Mixers

Mixers are another essential type of bakery equipment. In fact, they are the foundation of this business, so investing in quality ones is crucial. Keep in mind that different types of dough and batter have different consistency, which means that not every mixer is right for the job. For example, a pizza dough mixer has a different power range than a mixer designed for whipping eggs. In that sense, size, power and mixer speed are the main features to consider in accordance with your needs.

Dough Scraper

Dough scrapers are the most commonly used type of kitchen tool among bakery and pastry chefs. This small but mighty tool can help one literally with everything in the kitchen, from cleaning up the deck space (from flour or some ingredients) to dividing and cutting dough.

Pans

A variety of pans are needed for a bakery business, so having as many as possible would be ideal. Bread pans, cookie pans and sheet pan racks are essential, the key is to choose the right size to match your capacity needs.

Refrigerator

A bakery store cannot be complete without a refrigerator. Milk, eggs and the many types of creams should be stored at the right temperature, which is why you need to invest in one.

Display Case

Product visibility is key to having a successful bakery business. Their purpose is to show your baked goods in the best possible light, allowing you to arrange them the way you want. They are designed to attract the eyes of customers, which is why almost all of them have installed lights on the inside of the display in order to highlight the goods and make them more eye-catching.

An essential component of many facilities, an industrial freezer room allows you to store and preserve a range of goods. It provides you with the space you need to organise your storage optimally, streamlining your business and saving your staff time and effort. Like with other pieces of equipment, choosing an industrial freezer room requires taking into account a range of factors and requirements to make sure you get the unit that best suits your needs.

Size

The size of your freezer room will depend on what you need to store, the available space you have and the level of organisation you require. Keep in mind that the larger the freezer room, the more expensive it will be to buy and maintain. However, larger industrial freezer rooms are certainly more efficient than a number of smaller chillers providing equivalent cold storage space.

Temperature Requirements

If you need to store goods between 0°C and +18°C, then a chiller or an ambient cool room may be ideal for you. If your goods require lower temperatures to be preserved, then you will need a freezer room that operates at temperatures between 0°C and -40°C.

Industry

The industry you work in will also have an impact on your choice as it determines the features of the cold room you will use the most. Certain industries, such as food and pharmaceuticals, have specific standards for hygiene and prevention from contamination. This makes an easy-to-clean and maintain freezer room a necessity. Other industries, like agriculture or chemical processing, may require a hard-wearing, durable cool room. So, make sure to consider what industry your freezer will be serving and the requirements which that industry will place on your cold storage.

Energy Efficiency

Considering that freezer rooms can use a lot of energy, they can be rather expensive to utilize. Due to this reason, it is important to check the energy rating of the equipment that you are getting and ensure it is high. A high energy rating means that the unit will consume as little energy as possible in order to run effectively.

Features

To make life easier, manufactures of industrial freezer rooms often include useful features that improve their daily operation and performance. They include:

Automatic defrost – it is generally a standard on most coolrooms. With off cycle defrost, the unit shuts off for short periods. Electric defrost, on the other hand, actively melts ice, ensuring continuous and efficient refrigeration.

Emergency escape – it is a simple internal button that opens the door, increasing functionality. Some models may include a panic button inside or trace heaters to prevent the door from freezing shut.

Self-closing doors – this feature helps to reduce running costs as coolrooms have to work harder when the door is open and warm air gets inside the unit.

Rebated door close ‘Flush’ with wall panels – in addition to preventing potential theft, this feature also helps retain the internal temperature, thus saving energy.

How you label your products can have a huge impact on their success. While having an attractive design is key, the actual label and how your labeling process goes can affect your day-to-day business operations and your annual profits. Self adhesive product labels are seeing a surge in popularity, especially in the beverage and food industries. They provide a wide range of benefits for both businesses and individuals who are after the ideal packaging solutions. Otherwise known as pressure-sensitive labels, self adhesive labels are used as a form of packaging themselves. They can be used on virtually any type of product material and can be custom-made to fit all shapes and sizes – from plants and nursery products to cosmetic product, they’re one of the most effective marketing tools renown for their versatility and quality.

As briefly aforementioned, self adhesive product labels offer a number of great benefits for businesses’ packaging operations. These benefits include time and cost-effectiveness, longevity, versatility, ease of application and boosting shelf appeal. When compared to cold glue labeling, self-adhesive product labels don’t require any technical expertise. They’re easy to manufacture and have a faster production and application speed. They can be applied using machinery that uses reel-fed applicators and simple setup. Label application machines can label your products in a single pass. But if you don’t have such machines that’s fine too, you can manually apply the labels as well. This is especially beneficial for start-ups and small businesses as it removes the need to invest in expensive label application machinery.

Additionally, the overall costs of packaging with self adhesive labels is much lower than cold glue labeling. Due to the fact that you have the option to easily apply the labels manually, you cut the application machine costs out. Furthermore, self adhesive labels are easier to manufacture and apply, which reduces the amount of energy used in their production and application. And lastly, they produce less waste from mislabelled products.

Self adhesive labels are durable, which is why most wine and beverage companies are using them. They’re designed to resist deterioration from substances such as water and oil, and they won’t peel off from any type of surface material. They form a strong, long-lasting bond with the surface, and you can be confident that they won’t wear and tear, and will stay down even if they’re exposed to the elements and frequent handling. And lastly, they boost your product’s appeal and are a great marketing tool for branding. With them, you can create eye-catching, quality designs, and the flexibility of digital printing means that you can create a vibrant, unique packaging that’s going to attract your target audience.

The range of products made by Radiotection for locating underground services is vast but the features and advantages they offer are very unique. For that very reason, today we are going to focus on the uses and features of the PL version of the RD7100 series of underground service locators. Let’s get to work.

Common Use

The 1.9 kg plastic body filled with high tech features makes this tool perfect for use in dense infrastructures where the presence of high voltage equipment and cables can confuse the operator. The RD7100PL is made to be used in electrical and power industries as it is capable of reducing the effects of electrical noise and interference. It is also useful in areas where the source of the signal can’t be determined whether it’s coming from one or multiple sources (cables) and where are the other buried utilities.

Underground Services Locator Features

Power filters

The first and most obvious feature of the RD77100PL is called a power filter. It brings a more organized way of dealing with sources of cable signals as tracing one through a complex network can be quite difficult. There’s also very conflicting and powerful signals that can combine to make a wash of signal. With the pressing of a button, you can sort out every power signal individually which helps to distinguish if a signal is coming from one or multiple cables, and eventually trace their route.

TruDepth

This feature will ensure you get the most precise readings, by showing you the results only if the device is oriented in the correct way. This so-called self-test of the device’s orientation is done by sending signals to the locating circuitry and by checking the display and power functions as well. With the TruDpeth feature, you will be sure to get the correct results 99% of the time as it will always keep you in check with where the device is facing.

eCert

This piece of technological advancement is almost exclusively shared between a couple of brands and Radiodetection is one of them. This is because the eCert is a very unique way to calibrate your device over the internet using software called ‘RD Manager”. This eliminates you having to go to a service center, thus saving you time and money.

Guidance Mode

A little bit of help is always welcomed, which is why you have an option to turn on Guidance mode on the RD7100PL in order to stay on track of a buried utility. This is quite a straightforward function and thanks to it, you will be able to trace the path of a certain utility even in congested networks. Guidance mode can also be used in rough and uneven terrain by using different audio tunes.

If you are in the business of selling and shipping products, you are probably well aware of the importance of doing the whole process right. Once a customer decides to purchase from your range, it is vital that you make sure the customer receives that item in an orderly fashion. This means that the way you package your products can make or break your business since damaged products can mean dealing with returns, refunds and unsatisfied customers.

With that being said, if you want higher customer satisfaction and loyalty you need to equip yourself with high-quality mailing supplies. Additionally, in order to secure safe transport, out of all mailing supplies available on the market, you should seriously consider bubble bags and bubble cushioning wraps. This type of packaging material is created by sealing together two sheets of plastic so that there is plenty of air “trapped” in the middle to form bubbles. Here are the benefits that you should have in mind if you are still not convinced.

First, as mentioned above, one of the biggest perks of this type of mailing supplies is the guarantee that the items you ship will be properly protected against shocks and vibrations, and even if the item falls off, it will still remain undamaged. Moreover, once you place the items in bubble bags, or wrap them, you will also keep them safe from scratching, chipping and away from dirt and dust. To put it simply, the products will get to the intended location safe and sound.

Second, they are very convenient. Bubble bags and the wraps are easy to use. Simply place the items in the bag, or wrap them and seal the protective covering securely in place with packing tape. Additionally, what makes them even more convenient and widely used is the fact that they offer all those protective features even for items that come in unusual shapes and sizes.

Third, it is also important to mention that this packaging solution is economical as well. Since the bubbles provide more than enough cushioning, you are not going to need any additional packaging materials and supplies. So, you will lower your overall shipping costs.

Lastly, when it comes to product placement, there are two options – you can either have the bubbles on the inside or out. For optimal protection, it is recommended to place the air pockets inwards so that they face the item they are to protect. In addition, the flat side of the material is usually made to be more durable for added outer protection against external impacts.

Are you a hunter, rock climber, mountain biker or another form of an outdoor thrill seeker? Or perhaps you’re part of a security crew or work in the military or law enforcement. Whatever group you fit in, you probably have to deal with a variety of harsh conditions, such as rocky terrain, frigid temperatures, rain, or other forces beyond your control. In those situations, it’s dangerous and life-threatening to be caught without the right clothes. With that being said, if you’re planning to buy tactical clothing that’s comfortable, durable and most importantly protective, here are some tips that can be of great help.

Pick the Right Fabrics

The fabric your tactical clothes are made of will serve a double function – keep you protected and comfortable. With that being said, it’s important to make sure you choose the right fabric when you buy tactical clothing. The type of climate is key to making the right decision. For instance, if you’re looking for clothes to shield you in cold conditions, pure cotton or a cotton/poly blend will allow you to stay warm and dry thanks to their insulating and moisture-wicking properties. But if it’s hot and humid, you’ll have a miserable time running around in cotton clothes. In that case, it’s best to choose a lighter, synthetic fabric that will allow your body to breathe better.

Consider Patterns and Colour

Just like everyday clothing, appearances also matter in tactical clothing as well. However, in this case, instead of wanting to be seen, you should aim for blending in with your surroundings. For instance, if you’re choosing hunting clothes, a camouflage pattern can allow you to sneak up close to the prey undetected. On the other hand, for tactical operations in the city, you may want to stay discreet by choosing a solid colour such as black, olive drab, or desert tan that doesn’t draw attention. What’s more, dark-coloured tactical clothes are easier to keep clean.

Don’t Forget to Protect Your Feet

In tactical situations, you’ll be moving a lot which means your feet can take quite the beating. To protect your feet from injuries and the elements, it’s important to wear proper footwear. Start by getting yourself some quality reinforced socks that provide arch and calf support, thus helping you to prevent injuries. What’s more, socks made of TransDry Cotton can help you keep your feet dry which can protect you against trench foot https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/medicine-and-dentistry/trench-foot. Besides socks, shoes are obviously also important. Reinforced toes and puncture resistant materials are a must-have as you’ll be moving around all kinds of harsh terrain. Additionally, make sure that the shoes are made of a water-resistant material that can prevent your feet from getting wet.

If you’re an avid DIY-er, you’ve probably found yourself having to lubricate some moving parts of your project every now and then, but always found doing that a real hassle. Well, what you might not have considered is that a grease gun can make things much easier and convenient, and you’ll no longer be avoiding lubricating whatever it is you’re working on as that’s important for increasing the longevity of the product. However, buying your first grease gun can be somewhat confusing, as there are many different types. That being said, here’s a list of all the available options you’ll come across online and in retail stores.

Grease Pumps

You’ll find a wide range of grease pumps online, and they basically work by generating pressure within the gun’s cylinder to put out the grease. If your favourite store doesn’t seem to sell grease pumps online, that’s because they’re probably categorized as hand pumps, because they usually come equipped with portable pumps. These grease guns are versatile, powerful and can deliver consistently accurate results. This makes them a favourite among DIY-ers and professionals alike, and their only downside is that they aren’t that easy to use.

Air Powered

Air powered grease guns are ideal for industrial use and heavy-duty projects overall. This is simply because they’re usually accompanied by a heavy-duty compressor that’s responsible for generating the necessary pressure to handle large projects. As you can imagine, the downside to these grease guns is the cost that comes with having an air compressor.

Cordless Grease Guns

Cordless grease guns feature rechargeable batteries that allow them to lubricate without a power cable. Their biggest advantage is precisely that, meaning you can use them virtually anywhere, regardless of whether there’s power or not. Furthermore, you aren’t restricted by cables, and you can hit awkward angles conveniently. However, they’re usually very simple and not very feature-packed due to their limited power supply.

Lever Grease Guns

Lever grease guns take advantage of a manually-operated lever to release grease. All you have to do is stroke the lever, which makes adjusting the rate of flow and the pressure extremely easy by simply varying the stroke length. These guns are very versatile and easy to use, which makes them extremely popular among people working in various industries, as well as DIY-ers. Their downside, however, is that extended use can tire you, meaning, you can’t really tackle lengthy greasing projects with them. Unlike pump grease guns, these guns need to be operated using both hands.

With MIG welders you can weld a variety of metals, but they’re best used on thin metals such as aluminium. This is so because you need to have more control over the welding process as aluminium is rather sensitive when compared to other metals. MIG welding makes things harder to maneuver, like the feeding of the wire. This consequently resulted in the invention of this much-needed tool that enabled welders to have more control over the amount of wire they use and the overall quality of the weld finish.

MIG welding is not very commonly used, which is why having experience with a similar technique is more than welcomed if you have decided to practice it. Otherwise, you’ll spend most of your time figuring out the different amperage settings and wire speeds. Nevertheless, before you get a spool gun for this purpose, you should learn how to properly use it.

Before you start working with a spool gun, you will first need to adjust the wire speed and amperage to achieve enough penetration. A 115V welder is not powerful enough to melt through the metal in order to make the fusion, so that’s why you should get a 230V MIG welder. You can use the chart that comes with your machine to check which voltage and wire speed settings will work best for your needs.

It is important to use a spool gun that will match the duty cycle of your welding machine, and you should also consider getting a torch and a hookup that will fit your existing MIG welder. The right spool gun is the one that will feed the aluminium wire best because they tend to bend quite easily and you don’t want to spend an entire day feeding out a wire out of your spool gun, just to save pennies on the dollar.

Furthermore, you will need to adjust the flow of the shielding gas because too much of it will prevent you from having a steady arc. Too little of it, on the other hand, can make your arc start jumping around and hiss too much. If you want your weld to be neat and clean, preheat the aluminium before you start striking with the arc, especially if you happen to work in a colder climate.

A basic understanding of MIG wires is enough to make sure you pick the right one. The most commonly used one is the 4043, which is the starting point of aluminium wires. The scope of welding wires is from 4043 to 5356 as the one that tends to melt faster, thus it requires a faster wire speed and a more experienced welder. If you are just starting out, it is a good idea to get the 4043 wire alloy.

Properly storing your wires will help you stay organized, but most importantly, it will protect your wires from oxidizing when exposed to different elements in the air. Always store your wires before welding aluminium and do not open your MIG wire until you’ve loaded it into the spool gun. If you do so, it can cause an uneven arc, a lot of resistance and soot which will affect the overall speed of your welding.

A lot of people have the misconception that welding is this outrageous, risky and dangerous thing to do because it involves sparks flying around and metal being melted in front of your face. Maybe that was the case years and years ago but with today’s technological advancements there’s a whole lot of equipment like auto-darkening helmets and inverter machines which provide a safer working environment. To clear things up, let’s start with the rundown of the three welding process.

MIG (Metal Inert Gas) Welding

This type of welding is meant for indoor use because of the gas that is being plumbed from the welding gun itself in order to protect the weld from contamination, and if something like wind, is in the way of it, there’s no chance you will get any welding done. MIG type machines like the ones from, WIA welders Australia based stores, use steel wires to weld different types of ferrous metal. This is why CO2 is needed, in this case, because it best protects ferrous (metal that has iron in it) metal, unlike ARGON which is meant to be used on non-ferrous metal.

MMA (Manual Metal Arc) Welding

Also called ‘stick welding’, MMA uses metal rods (instead of wires) covered in flux, which, when exposed to the heat from the welder release the shielding gas around the weld, so it can protect it from moisture, oxygen and other gasses in the air. Stick welding is the best type of welding to start with, because of its ease of use. It is mostly used for minor home repairs and its only downside is that the metal rods last only up to a few seconds at a time making them the only consumable part. Something you should watch out for is the Duty Cycle (http://weldinganswers.com/understanding-duty-cycle/), which is imprinted on every rig and shows the time a welder can weld depending on the amperage.

TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) Welding

ARGON is the usual suspect to protect from contamination when it comes to TIG as it is meant to weld non-ferrous metal indoors. This makes it the slowest process, and also the hardest one to learn. Although the torch handle can heat up or even melt if you are not cautious, this type of welding is the most precise as it provides full control. The user has to manually feed the weld with metal, which makes it best for fine quality welding. If you want to change currents for different applications, both Lincoln electric and WIA welders Australia made tools have a good array of TIG oriented welding machines that can do both AC and DC welding without a fuss.

It’s no secret, we Australians love to eat out, and while this means we like our restaurants and cafés, it also means we like our bakeries. It might not seem so, yet all it takes is a look at the big numbers, like the bread market valuing up to $4.7 billion, for you to see it sure is a lot. It’s profitable, but also competitive.

Perhaps this is what you needed to reassure you to join up the bread industry, opening up your own bakery. If so, kudos to you, however along with the courage to undertake this path, you have to know your investments, especially the large ones, like the bread proover.

What makes proovers important equipment pieces? Well, they are designed for dough proofing which is why they have controlled conditions, and can store fresh or frozen breads, buns, pastries, pies, rolls and similar products on their stainless steel cabinets. It’s a design with independent heat and humidity.

Available in a variety of brands, sizes and models, it depends on your baking needs to decide which bread proover makes the ideal choice for you, as well as your budget. If you’re looking for some handy features, the proofing stop is one of them, allowing you more control and scheduling baking up to three hours.

It’s needless to say ovens make an essential part, but efficiency is something you would have to choose to guide you in the purchase, deciding over traditional or convection. Just have in mind, convection has circulating air which is how they cook evenly, and this itself might help you choose them, despite the initial cost being higher than that of the traditional.

Regardless of the size of your bakery, at one point or another, you’d get the need for a dough mixer because it’s impossible to keep up the pace all on your own, without the help of machinery. Whether small amount of dough or large, these tools are going to be your helping hand when making those savoury baked goods that would keep the customers coming in.

In case you need to master the dough thickness to perfection, you can always rely on the sheeters. They make ideal when making cakes, proving to be essential for the production of fondant.

Yes, it won’t come out exactly cheap to include the necessary tools in your bakery, but one thing is for sure, they are the investment that pays off, as they save up time and produce more, so you get quality and quantity, and logically, the profits are also bigger. Think long-term!

No case of walking into a candy store and glancing and sighing at those lovely, shiny truffles who stare back at you, tempting you to get one or two has ever been made possible without tempering.

The reason for this process is the pre-crystallization of the cocoa butter present in the chocolate which is a pivotal step for making the chocolate ready for further processing. The goal is for the chocolate to take on a stable crystalline form as this is what makes for a gorgeous finish product with a satin gloss.

Apart from looking better, the product will also taste better this way because it will have a hard snap when someone bites into it.

Untempered chocolate, on the other hand, does not harden fully and its finish is dull, unappealing and blotchy. It can also have white streaks or spots, usually referred to as “bloom”. Untempered chocolate has a soft and chalky mouthfeel and it melts easily. And instead of the much sought-after hard snap, untempered chocolate melts easily and has a chalky feel when someone bites into it.

The process of tempering is done by a chocolate dipping machine which is specifically designed to consistently temper chocolate thus improving its quality. Anyone who’s in the business of making candy or baked goods needs to consider investing in a chocolate dipping machine unless all of the products made do not require tempered chocolate. Depending on the facility, the capacity of the machine is also an important consideration (90 kg per hour being the preferred option).

Untempered chocolate is used for the making of products that are meant to be consumed quickly. This means that the chocolate is used for decoration or garnish, whereas the final product will be coated in something else (coffee beans, nuts, etc). Generally, all baked goods or recipes that include chocolate as an addition to ingredients such as milk, flour, sugar or cream do not require tempered chocolate.

Tempered chocolate, on the other hand, is the preferred option for anything that is to be fully covered or simply dipped into chocolate. It is a must for chocolate bars and all sorts of moulded or filled chocolates since untempered chocolate is almost impossible to remove from moulds.

To sum it up, it all depends on the type of products being made, but for anyone in the chocolate/candy making business, to temper or not to temper shouldn’t even be a question.

Keeping large stocks of food is key for the success of a restaurant. After all, there’s no greater disappointment for a guest than getting excited for a particular meal on the menu, only to find out that it can’t be made because the kitchen lacks the ingredients. But since large stocks of food are also more easily prone to spoilage, restaurants need to preserve their supplies in a safe and reliable way. With that being said, investing in high-quality refrigeration is the best way to ensure your guests end up satisfied and at the same time avoid violating health and safety laws.

Unlike domestic fridges, when selecting commercial refrigeration, there are many different factors to consider. After all, the needs of a restaurant are a lot more complicated than those of an average household. So, to make the selection process easier for you, here are the most important things to pay attention to.

Size

Commercial fridges and freezers come in a variety of sizes. An easy way to figure out how large a fridge is is by the number of doors it has. Reach-in freezers are usually available as 1, 2, and 3 door models. So for instance, if you run an average-sized restaurant, a double door commercial refrigerator will be suitable for you. However, don’t forget to consider its exact capacity also, as different fridges can have different internal storage. For instance, one double door commercial refrigerator can store up to a 1200 litres, and another model barely 900 litres. So, make sure that you pick a model that can meet your storage needs at the busiest times.

Energy-efficiency

Keeping things cold 24/7 obviously drains a lot of electrical energy. However, a high electricity bill is nothing compared to a hefty fine for violating health and safety laws. But like any business, a restaurant also has a limited budget to work with, and you don’t want all of it to go to running your refrigerators, right? In that case, pay good attention to the energy consumption rating attached to commercial refrigerators. For example, an energy efficient double door refrigerator with a capacity of 1200 litres tends to require around 50 kWh/24hr to run. Anything more than 80 kWh/24hr will result in very high electricity costs.

Defrosting

Over time, the inside of a fridge will start to accumulate ice which can reduce its performance and affect its lifespan. For this reason, many commercial refrigerators also include an automatic defrost system. This system can be programmed to kick in at specific intervals. Although this feature is present in more expensive models, it’s a worthwhile investment as you won’t need to manually defrost the unit yourself.

Owning a restaurant comes with a lot of responsibilities and decisions to be handled on a daily basis. In addition to serving delicious food, you will also need to focus on excellent customer service, target branding, and a cohesive food packaging strategy – all of that to be able to stand out from the competition. And if you are really looking to take your business to the top, fresh food packaging is an aspect you should put extra attention to.

The busy lifestyle of most people today is one of the main reasons why such a great number relies for food on the go. What this means is that although it is important to have a comfortable place to eat-in and gather socially, it is also smart to create a convenient take-out food experience for customers with limited time. Smart food packaging design is one way that you can address this need as it influences the entire food experience. In this blog post we will talk about some of the factors you should consider when choosing your food packaging supplies.

Convenience

While riding the bus or train, while texting or talking on the phone, people have only one free hand to carry whatever they need to. Coffees, juices, and smoothies are suitable for these situations, but what about soup? Many food packaging supplies companies have solved this problem in the retail sector with soup-on-the-go packaging. Wrappings or quick peel-back sleeves also help sandwich to be eaten more conveniently. All-in-one trays may also help improve the portability of products to make take-out more convenient.

Effectiveness

Will the package keep your food fresh and prevent spills? Keeping food ready to eat after transportation is essential for a great take-out experience. Liners and coverings that keep air out, retain temperature and protect the food, helping the take-out food remain fresh and delicious as it was just taken out of the kitchen.

Biodegradable

Biodegradable food packaging supplies won’t take forever to deteriorate in landfills, waterways, and other places. Thanks to advances in technology, today biodegradable food packaging is easier and less expensive to produce than it was before. Plus, it makes things easier for your customers as they won’t need to take any extra step like they do with recycling as they can simply throw the package out with the regular trash.

While these improvements may cost you a little bit more, they can certainly bring in new customers and make your business stand out from the crowd of competitors. Go through your menu to decide what kind of packaging is best for each item you offer. And yes, it is always better to buy a bit more than you actually need than to be short of it. After all, you will eventually use up the rest of the packaging supplies. Positioning yourself in a situation where you need to explain a customer that you have currently ran out of packaging supplies has never had a positive outcome.

Yeast flower and water are the essence for making almost all of the baked goods, however, as much as these three ingredients can be of help during the making process, they can also be the reason for many problems related to bacterial growth. Since food pathogens are the last thing any bakery owner wants to offer to their customers, making sure that the equipment utilized in the kitchen and the kitchen itself is perfectly clean is a must.

Prior to the invention of the steam cleaner and vacuum, bakeries relied on dry cleaning. This doesn’t mean that the kitchen areas used to be unsanitary at all times, but it used to take a lot more time and effort to clean and disinfect everything. Brushing and scraping is all people who rely on the dry method can do and this is quite ineffective, especially since it means wasting precious time that could be used for new baking projects. What’s more, this method poses a greater risk for the process not to be as thorough as necessary which is a great risk.

Investing in high quality steam cleaner and vacuum puts an end to this risk. These machines are designed to put an end to cutting corners and thoroughly cleaning even the hard-to-reach areas. This allows for easy removal of large quantities of ingredients which in turn prevents cross-contamination. This is especially important since wheat, flour, milk, eggs and peanuts are common allergens and the awareness regarding the issues they cause has never been more on the rise.

Adequately cleaning and sanitizing equipment with an industrial steam cleaner doesn’t require long hours of labor that results in loss of productivity. This makes the decision to invest in such piece of equipment a smart, long term solution. The best thing about vacuum steam cleaners is the fact that they work without the use of any harsh chemicals. However, this doesn’t prevent them from being able to cut through grease, oil or sugar deposits. What allows the steam cleaners to be so effective is the fact that the steam they produce reaches up to 413°F / 212°C – a temperature that’s proven to safely kill all organisms. Finally, this level of sanitation is remarkably effective for preventing the growth of mold, which can be just as annoying as pests.

If you run a commercial kitchen, and grilled meat is a vital part of your menu, then you should probably consider getting a charcoal grill instead of gas one. Even though gas grills are much more convenient nowadays, they simply pale in comparison to charcoal ones in terms of quality. If you’re wondering why the good old-fashioned charcoal grill is still so popular, keep reading, we’ll be discussing it in detail.

When you cook meat on a commercial charcoal grill, the meat has that smokey feel to it which can’t be found in meat cooked on gas or electric grills. Even though gas and electric grills cook it quicker, they fail to keep the meet tender and juicy. A commercial charcoal grill cooks the meat slowly and the continuous exposure to the heat causes the fat inside it to liquefy, thus separating itself from the meat. This way, the meat gets rid of the excess fat and calories.

Additionally, charcoal grills keep the nutrients, like minerals, vitamins and proteins intact, resulting in a more nutritious product. Additionally, the temperature can reach higher degrees which means a better cooked meat, even on the inside. You can also control the heat by shifting the coals to different spots on the grill, which is especially beneficial when cooking different types of meat that require different temperatures.

However, charcoal grills also have some disadvantages, just like electric and gas grills have. For instance, they can be quite messy, and it can take a lot of effort to start them and clean them. Moreover, reaching the desired temperature can take quite some time, and you might have a hard time determining and reaching the temperature you need.

Additionally, you might get occasional flare-ups, which can be extremely annoying. Reducing the temperature significantly at one go is also almost impossible because there are no knobs that can help you regulate it. And lastly, the emission of smoke can be inconvenient, and continuous exposure can lead to breathing problems.

Luckily, modern commercial charcoal grills come with starters which help you ignite them quicker. You can also tackle the temperature issues by using a thermometer to slowly control it to the desired level. In other words, most modern charcoal grills have so many great features that far outweigh their few inconvenient ones. They’re built of high quality stainless steel, feature manual button lighting systems, and zinc and alloy knobs for easier cleaning.

An angle grinder is one of the most commonly used handheld power tools in both domestic and industrial settings. They come in many different sizes, with different power sources and outputs, and can be used for a variety of jobs even by those that aren’t exactly skilled workers. All you really need to properly use an angle grinder is some protection for your eyes, ears and hands, and the right grinding wheel.

The versatility of the flap grinding wheels allows them to be used for a variety of different tasks such as finishing, stock removal, and of course, grinding. They are made from multiple overlapping pieces of abrasives and are considered superior to regular grinding wheels if your intention is to produce a better finish. The flap grinding wheels also have the advantage when it comes to the ease of use, not to mention that they are also lightweight, easy to manoeuvrer and produce less noise and lower vibrations. However, the flap grinding wheels’ biggest benefit is their ability to still be useful even after some erosion, while in contrast, regular grinding wheels are rendered useless because of it.

There are many different types of flap discs and they are all very well suited for certain tasks, but not very useful for others, which means you will need to determine what exactly your project is and what you need the flap disc for upfront. For example, the conically shaped flap discs are a good choice for edge-working, as well as on contoured applications as they are the best if you want to remove a lot of or a certain material in a short amount of time. On the other hand, the flat flap discs, while not as good with rapid stock removal as the conical, are much better suited for producing superior finishes and for use on flat surfaces.

You will also need to pay attention to the material the flap disks are made of. Plastic is a very popular material and it’s easy to see why, as it’s cost effective and a good choice for blending or if you are doing some finishing. Another good choice is fiberglass, mostly because it is lightweight, surprisingly durable and absorbs vibrations very well, however, keep in mind that this particular backing plate gets consumed during use. And finally, there is the classic choice of a metal backing, which is without a doubt the safest out of the bunch and is the ideal choice when more strength is needed.

Shelving storage systems are a cost-effective solution that can help maximise your available storage space. However, that’s not all there is to it. It can increase the overall productivity levels of your warehouse, and you won’t have to hire a third-party logistics warehouse provider. Instead, you’re investing into a long-term solution to solve all your storage problems yourself.

Even if you’re not operating at peak capacity at the moment, you’re probably looking to grow your business. So when sale periods, large discount buying, and seasonal peaks come around, you better be prepared to meet the rising demand. That being said, utilising your warehouse space wisely is extremely important. In fact, every meter matters. Space management and organisation are key to a profitable and successful warehouse business. Here are the benefits of implementing proper shelving systems.

A Clean Warehouse

A shelving system cleans up the space simply by helping you organise your inventory more efficiently. Having an organised and easy-to-access inventory not only boosts productivity, but it also reduces the chances of unwanted accidents.

Improved Inventory Control

Shelving systems give you more control over the inventory inside your warehouse. You can track items that need shipping, items that are received, and return them with more ease. That being said, you’ll have an easier time delivering products in a timely manner. You can tidily categorise items and identify them much easier. In other words, you can rest assured that all products are at the right place exactly when you need them. All of this helps you to run a more efficient warehouse and maintain a high level of quality assurance.

Supports Heavy Items

Not only are these systems designed to save space, but they can also hold heavy items. Typically, the shelves are made of strong, durable materials that last very long, with the most commonly used one being steel due to its strength. All shelf manufacturers put recommended weight limits on the shelves, so it’s important that you don’t surpass them. Moreover, the shelves are usually paint coated, which makes them rust and corrosion resistant.

Workflow Efficiency

When you combine all of the aforementioned benefits, you get an improved workflow efficiency of the warehouse as a whole. The ability to store both bulky and high-density items saves a lot of space, which makes it possible for the warehouse employees to easily access the inventory. This in turn results in a reduced footprint. Lastly, storage shelves are simple and convenient to use. They require little to no maintenance and are easy to clean. All of this proves how shelving storage systems are of utmost importance to any warehouse business looking to increase its overall efficiency and storage capacity.

Freezers are easily one of the most important pieces of equipment for food businesses, regardless of whether it’s a top-tier restaurant or a convenience store. That being said, in order to ensure your business complies with the health and safety rules and regulations, having a quality freezer to store all the products that need to be kept at a certain temperature is essential. One of the best types of commercial freezers are the chest models, simply because they are designed to stock massive quantities of frozen food.

Quality chest freezers are extremely useful, versatile, and energy efficient appliances. They save you money long-term, and allow you to store bulky items in abundance, regardless of whether that’s seasonal jams and berries, or large pieces of meat. That being said, chest freezers offer many benefits over conventional upright freezers in terms of price, energy efficiency and storage capacity. Moreover, certain models come with auto defrost and frost-free features.

Energy Efficiency

The energy efficient properties of these freezers are attributed to their built-in sidewall insulation which helps to maintain their low temperature for long time-periods, hence using less energy to function. More importantly, if there’s a power outage you can rest assured that your products will remain cold for about three days, as long as you keep the lid closed. Look for energy star ratings to get an indication whether they’re rated as energy efficient.

Abundance of Space

It’s hard to beat a chest freezer when it comes to available space. Chest freezers use most of their total space, unlike upright freezers that have compartments which sometimes cannot be removed. You can choose whether you need compartments in your chest freezer or not, so that you can have your items properly organised and stored per your requirements. This benefit also helps you maintain sufficient supply during peak times when you are busiest, as the shift in demand is something you have to take into account beforehand when running a food business.

Elegant Design

One of the added conveniences of having a chest freezer is the fact that it allows you to organise the contents however you want. You can separate the different types of items with the help of cardboard boxes. However, taking and putting items inside the freezer may be tiresome for some, as you’ll constantly have to bend over. But there are various chest freezer models that come with bottom drawers, if you don’t mind the fact that this will slightly reduce the freezer’s capacity.

The term pneumatic tools can refer to a large number of different tools the only shared characteristic of which is that they all run on pressurized air that is supplied from an air compressor. Though they may vary in function as well as size, they are all specialized pieces of equipment that are dangerous to anyone that isn’t properly trained to use them. Just to be clear (as if this need clarification) reading this text will not automatically give you all of the knowledge you might need to run any such piece of machinery. It may however, give you a bit of information on these sorts of device and their parts, as well as what to watch out for.

Firstly there are of course the attachments, or more precisely the parts of the machine which you hold in your hands and operate. As mentioned before, they come in all sorts of different dimensions and each one of them is perfect for a certain type of task. Just making a list of these types of tools will take a significant amount of time, so you can imagine how difficult it would be trying to explain in layman terms the proper maintenance and upkeep for all of them. Instead, a few things that you need to keep an eye out for when handling any of them is the deceptive size, the blowback and your protection while using them. All of these things sort of bleed into each other in that the deceptive size refers to the fact that even if the tool is small it can still run on and require a lot of air and will pack a punch bigger than you expect. This will in turn result in a bigger reaction from the point of contact than you were expecting and it might result in an injury or worse. So start out with the lowest pressure possible first and work yourself up from there.

Next we have the air hose and the air hose reel. These are two separate items but are used in tandem with one another. The air hose reel is a cylindrical spindle used for coiling and storing the hose, and to accomplish this, they can use a motor or a hand crank. It can keep the hose in a tidy state and give it more protection than it would have if it was simply lying around. The hose itself is the item that you need to check the most frequently since its job is to deliver the pressurised air from the compressor to the tool, which means any tear or leak that it might have could cause disastrous results. Frequently check for problems, never go over the designated pressure limit, make sure it is always attached properly, and never carry the tool by the hose.

Finally, we come to the compressors. This device converts power into potential energy in the form of compressed air, meaning that while the others were risky to handle, this particular piece of equipment is downright dangerous to tamper with if you aren’t sure what you are doing. The first thing you need to do is determine the pressure that is present inside and see that it is not too high or too low. If it’s too low, you won’t be able to supply the tool with enough air to run it properly, if it’s too high, it could lead to any number of potential accidents waiting to happen when used. These include, but are not limited to – damage to the tool, a rip in the hose, or causing the connections to any to release or more likely break off. As with the others (but especially in the case of this device) , remember to leave it to a professional if you are not sure what may happen if you even go near it.

There are a few specific fields of work that require the workers to have quite a lot of equipment to be able to do their job properly, and construction is one of those. The nature of the work mandates the presence of both sturdy safety gear and specialised tools for certain jobs. The safety gear usually comes in the form of a hard hat for protection and a high-visibility jacket so that workers are easier to spot. As for the specialised tools, while there are a lot, there are a few that stand out as being present on every building site, and for a good reason too.

The old adage of “measure twice and cut once” is good advice in general, but on a construction site it also serves as an instruction on how to do your job properly. There are a variety of different measuring tools and all of them have an important role on every site, and for every task performed on the site as well. The most common construction site measuring tools are the tape measure and the measuring wheel. Both of these are used to measure exact distances, but the difference is that while the wheel is used to measure greater lengths, the tape measure is smaller and thereby used for more intricate calculations.

Cable locators, or otherwise known as underground service locators are devices commonly found on most construction sites, and as their name implies, they are used to find buried electrical cables, water pipes, gas lines etc. They work by either detecting an underground electro-magnetic signal caused by a running current, or by directly or indirectly feeding their own signal into the cable in order to follow it and map the exact location (for metallic pipes like the water mains a metal detector can do just fine too). These devices are of great importance in excavation as they help mark the positions that workers should avoid in case something goes wrong and an accident happens with any such underground services.

Air compressors are another piece of equipment that is found on nearly every building site. They work by converting power from an electric, diesel or fuel motor into potential energy in the form of pressurised air. Depending on the motor, there are some types that are more suited to certain tasks than others. The electric motor is perfect for indoor use since it needs a power source and produces no fumes, but while the other two do need to burn fuel and can only be used outdoors, they are more powerful than the electric models, which makes them more fit to run the machines on the sites.

As mentioned before, the above mentioned items don’t even make up a fraction of the needed pieces of equipment that you would need for these kinds of jobs. However, while the other items in this field have a more single purpose function depending on the exact work that’s being done, these items can be, and are used in nearly every construction site.

The weather has always been important to mankind. I mean…if it has the power to impact mood, I don’t think we need to further discuss how important it is! That being said, many industries rely on forecasting the weather, but weather reports are not 100% reliable. Actually, they can be very wrong and almost completely opposite of what the weather is like in your area. This is where a weather station comes into play. Being able to forecast the weather is essential to planning and working on projects in the foreseeable future, which is precisely what this device does.

A weather station is a device that uses sensors to collect data on the weather. You can choose between an analog and a digital weather station to buy, some of which you can connect to a computer and use specialised weather station software to analyse the data that you collect by the weather station. Weather stations utilise different sensors to measure temperature, humidity, pressure and rain. Basically, a weather station combines a barometer, thermometer, hygrometer, anemometer, rain gauge and wind vane into one single device.

There are numerous benefits to owning a weather station. That being said, there are many reasons to buy one. Being able to predict what the weather will be like in the near future allows you to organise better for an outdoor project, such as prospecting, construction, agriculture or anything else. It can protect you against bad weather, simply by making you aware of an upcoming flood, wind chill, storm or extreme heat.

With a weather station, you can track, store, share and analyse useful data that can help you plan ahead. For instance, in agricultural settings, a weather station can help the farmer decide when they should plant, when and how much to water their plants, and avoid wind and frost damage. Being ahead of the weather gives you time to act accordingly and protect your plants.

When looking for a weather station to buy the ideal one you need to consider a couple of factors. The sensor types, update interval and accuracy can all make or break a weather station. Depending on your individual needs, the sensor types of the weather station can vary. The most basic models collect air pressure, humidity and temperature. The more advanced models collect data on rain gauge and wind speed as well.

The accuracy of the weather station mainly depends on its quality. High-quality weather stations are usually more expensive and feature instruments with greater range and resolution, which translates in greater accuracy. The update interval also varies greatly, from just a second to every few minutes. Consider the update interval of the device if you want to collect relevant data very frequently or not before buying.

When you hear the word radar, the first thing that comes to mind is its use in military installations and large navy vessels with towering radar dishes that use microwaves to detect enemy vehicles and mines. However, radars aren’t just used in warfare, but also in other proffessions that have adopted the system for a variety of applications. This is done for the purpose of reducing the effort and time it would take to finish a task.

One such proffession is construction. Companies that use the radars to scan the concrete in order to determine its thickness, which in some buildings is a neccesity for ensuring it is durable enough to support the building’s weight. The scanning process is done by using the microwave’s oscilation to pulse through the concrete. Then this radioactive pulse is converted into visual data on a screen affixed to the handle of the GPRS ground penetrating radar which shows a 3D slice of the concrete to its field operator in real time. This method is also used in MRI scans as well.

Another field that requires the GPRS ground penetrating radar system and its detection abilitues is archaeology which uses it to scan an area that has been reported to have had ancient burial mounds, ancient roads or an ancient city. Its usefulness lies in the ability to collect and record underlying archaeological features impossible to discern using traditional field methods.

Now that you know some of the fileds that utilize this piece of equipment, you might be interested in how exactly it works. Well, firstly, the radar works by using a nondestructive type of electromagnetic radiation, which belongs to the microwave type of the radio spectrum. Secondly, it sends the microwaves through an object or liquid and the microwave then bounces back and reflects the inside of the object or liquid and then is converted to visual data.

This type of radiation is non-ionizing which is considerably safer than other types of radiation. However it can still cause a minor injury, so when handling a machine that uses microwaves, it is advised that the user never points the microwave antenna towards themselves or others.

How deep the radar goes depends on both the material it is scanning and the frequency of the microwave antenna. For applications such as locating rebar or conduits in concrete, higher frequencies are used, whereas lower frequencies are used for soil and other less dense materials.

But all of these items pale into insignificance when compared to one of the most humble inventions that cost so little – the plastic zip lock bag, or, in Australia also known as “sandwich bags”, “resealable bags”, or “resealable sandwich zip bags”.

These ubiquitous items offer extreme versatility and are available in many sizes, which makes them ideal for storing a wide variety of items in the office, at home, or in your luggage. From making the most out of your space, to tidily organizing your drawers and keeping liquids from leaking all over your items in your suitcase, there seems to be no end to the creative and useful ways of utilizing these see-through creations of ingenuity.

Even though their usefulness and versatility is what makes them so great, what’s even more astonishing about plastic zip lock bags is their simplicity and user-friendliness. The sealable top can be opened and closed with ease and they offer optimum protection against dust, dirt, moisture and other unwanted substances.

Many different companies use plastic zip lock bags in a wide variety of ways, whether that’s for industrial, residential or commercial use. In commercial settings, they’re most commonly used by businesses that ship or organize small products. These bags can preserve documents, maintain product freshness, and even protect sensitive materials like microchips. Simply put, you can store virtually anything in them for protection and packaging.

Most zip lock bags are made of either low-density polyethylene or LDPE plastic film. Other materials can be also used in some cases, as long as they meet FDA regulations for food packaging. Most of the time, the bags are either translucent or transparent. This allows you to label them with a marker, which can be incredibly useful if you’re packaging medication like pills, or other similar-looking products that need to be distinguished.

Furthermore, the bags are always measured by the usable dimensions, without the zipper included. You can find zip lock bags of all sizes – from small 50x75mm, to large 305x460mm. There are also zip lock bags that are labeled as heavy-duty and they are used for storing heavy and sharp items in industrial settings, which means there’s no shortage of options to pick from.

Simply put, these inexpensive items add a ton of convenience in a wide array of settings. It’s hard to find a substitute that’s more popular and more convenient for storing, shipping and packaging small items than the zip lock bag.

Unlike eating at home, which is often hurried and automatic, eating out provides an opportunity to socialize and enjoy a delicious full course meal at a leisurely pace. In fact, when I’m out dining at a restaurant I never skip the chance to finish the night off with a nice dessert, although I rarely have something sweet at home. And I believe that’s the case with most people.

This is why successful restaurant owners and managers always try to offer the best desserts to complement a well-prepared meal. The standard dessert cart includes various different cakes, pies, fruit salads, and of course, my favourite sweet treat – ice cream. While orders of frozen desserts soar in summertime, ice cream is also a popular treat during the colder months. Thanks to its cool and light texture, it’s easy to make room for ice cream even after you had a particularly large main-course.

Whether it’s a simple diner, a cafe, or a restaurant that serves Chinese, Indian, Italian, any hospitality place can benefit from making a good ice cream machine commercial purchase. If you’re an owner or a manager of such a place, it’s worth knowing that not all ice cream machines are alike. Although you’d think that ice cream can only differ in flavour, in reality there’s much more to it. Anyone who wishes to serve ice cream should be aware of the essential ice cream difference before deciding on a machine.

Regular Ice Cream

Regular ice cream is a restaurant classic. The machines used to make can also be applied to create other types of frozen treats like sorbet and tofu ice cream. The differences between these desserts lie in their recipes, not the machinery used. A basic ice cream machine commercial design consists of an outer drum, an internal container and a paddle or churn to stir and blend the ingredients and keep the ice cream from becoming frozen solid. The trick that makes ice cream freeze but prevents it from becoming solid is that with continuous mixing, particles freeze separately. To achieve its trademark creaminess, premium ice cream has a relatively high fat content. This type of ice cream cannot be dispensed from the machine and needs to be scooped for serving.

Soft Serve Ice Cream

On the other hand, soft serve ice cream is smooth and liquid-like and is dispensed directly from the machine into a bowl or an ice cream cone. Unlike traditional ice cream, this type of treat needs to be kept at a higher temperature and stirred before serving to achieve it’s fluffy texture. For this reason, if you want to offer soft serve ice cream on your menu, you’d need a different machine than the one used for standard ice cream. Soft serve ice cream machines generally make chocolate and vanilla flavoured desserts. Some machines can make one flavour at a time, while others have a third twisting option that combines both flavours in a single serving. Owners can create additional flavours by adding syrup to the vanilla mix.

Modern day construction work is much different than what it used to be because of the new types of equipment incorporated in the workplace. These include both the electrical and pneumatic tools that are now a common part of any industrial company’s inventory.

While electric is sufficient for most tasks, they need a power supply to keep them going. And there are times when there is no power outlet in the workplace and this is where pneumatics come in. Pneumatic tools use compressed air supplied by an air compressor and compared to their electrical counterparts they are safer to run and maintain due to their use of pressurised air to function.

Additionally, while there are air compressors that use electricity for power, there are others such as petrol compressors which are much more compact and lighter and an be easily carried to where they are needed. These are the most prevelant in road-side construction to power the jackhammers used to crack and clear pavement that is due for reconstruction. However these tools for the air compressors vary from the pneumatic nail gun for house construction and woodwork, to the pneumatic hammer for stone work. To many more that various industrial workers use every day.

There are two types of petrol compressors that are available. The first type are the static ones that are too large and heavy to be carried around and are usually used in workshops. The second type are lightweight ones that are carried to the worksite by truck, and are easily placed in the location where they are needed.

Their capacity is usually determined by the price sin the sense that static ones are more expensive but could be used longer, and the compact ones are cheaper, but have less air output. However the static compressors could also be installed in the back of a lorry or truck making them semi-portable as well.

When it comes to the parts and maintanence of the compressors it’s important to mention that there are parts such as the couplings and hoses that need to be cleaned periodically. Maintaining them requires oiling as to avoid malfunctions and loss of pressure during use, which would not be catastrophic, but would require you to refill the air compression tank making maintanence very important for prolonged use.

There’s no denying that the air compressors are a very valuble and essential piece of hardware, better suited for many of the tasks their electrical equivilents would underperform, making them the better choice for both industrial workers and DIY enthusiasts.

The fast pace of today’s industry requires modern, versatile, and cost-efficient materials handling equipment that will increase productivity in order to answer for the growing demand. In a warehouse or another industrial setting, whenever there’s a need to move, lift, or lower material – the jib crane is the piece of equipment that allows you to get the job done quickly and with ease. Because this type of crane is used for transporting delicate or valuable material, it’s incredibly important to make a good choice. For that reason you should consider a few important factors regarding jib cranes.

Lift Capacity

In order for the jib crane to lift efficiently and safely, the maximum weight of the load should not match nor exceed the total weight of the jib crane’s design. Instead, to calculate the maximum lift capacity of a jib crane, you should consider its safe working load plus an additional 15% for any trolleys or hoists used.

The Types of Mounts

There are three basic types of jib cranes you can find at a warehouse: floor-mounted, fixed wall-mounted, and travelling wall-mounted. The floor mounted jib crane has the widest range of uses. It has a strong vertical shaft for self-support which allows it to be used anywhere, whether it’s a warehouse or a construction site. There are also wall-mounted jib cranes which are attached to a wall structure and have no vertical shaft. The fixed wall-mounted cranes only cover the working area in which they can rotate, while the travelling wall-mounted cranes have a mobile chassis which allows them to move lengthwise across the structure they are attached to.

Degree of Rotation

Floor mounted jib cranes usually have a maximum rotating ability, being able to rotate a complete 360 degrees around their axis. These mobile types of cranes can mostly be found around construction sites. In industrial settings however, the most common jib cranes are wall mounted. The wall mounted types, both fixed and travelling, offer 180-200 degrees of rotation.

The Advantages of Using Jib Cranes

Regardless of the type or brand, every jib crane is built with great precision and undergoes detailed quality testing to ensure it’s powerful, secure, and durable. Because they have few mechanical parts and are easy to operate, jib cranes are your best option when it comes to tasks such as moving and handling materials from one place to another, and hoisting in tight areas. Using these machines helps save a lot of manpower, maintain the safety in the facility, and speed up operations, which in turn boosts productivity.

You’ve probably noticed all the special warning equipment around a construction site when passing by one. Well, that’s because construction areas are somewhat dangerous and those warning signs shouldn’t be taken lightly. You’ve also noticed them on construction trucks that carry heavy and sometimes even hazardous materials. However, not everyone can use warning lights freely. In fact, there are some special regulations when it comes to the subject. Regardless, if you’re one of the exceptions, and require them on your construction site or on your vehicle, there are typically multiple warning light types to choose from.

LED Warning Light

By far the most popular warning light nowadays is the LED warning light. The reason for this is their versatility since they feature blinking, rotating and continuous modes plus they are durable and come with low power consumption. They’re ideal for machinery because they’re incredibly vibration and shock resistant as well.

Flashing Strobe Beacons

These warning lights utilise xenon gas-filled glass lubes to produce bright illumination when energised. The same technology is used for flash photography and in strobe lights. Typically, they flash once per second, but this can very from device to device. These are some of the more popular warning lights and are widely used for toxic gas leaks, chemical spills, evacuation alarms and for warning of structures and moving machinery like service vehicles, lifting equipment, gates, doors and barriers.

Rotating Mirror Lights

Rotating mirror lights utilise a motorised reflector and a halogen lamp to shed a 360 degree rotating light beam. They have a significantly higher output intensity than conventional incandescent light bulbs. Rotating mirror lights are popular among moving vehicles and alarm systems because of the high degree of signaling effect they provide.

Blinking Lights

These lights utilise self-contained circuitry and incandescent light bulbs to get the desired blinking effect. Some models have a fixed blinking frequency while others can be user-selectable. These are budget-friendly but are inferior to LED warning lights in almost every other way. However, they’re still good at getting the point across.

Continuous Lights

Continuous lights utilise filament-style halogen lamps or light bulbs and are the more affordable choice for process status indication and machinery. Again, they’re outperformed by LED lights in almost any way, especially if you’re supposed to use them on a shock and vibrating surface. And just as the case is with blinking lights, they’re good enough to get the message across at an affordable price.

It’s safe to say that almost everyone has experienced the inconvenience of running out of power at some point in our lives. No means of charging your phone and the ice-cream spoiling in the fridge are just the most harmless side-effects of a blackout. However, when the power goes out without previous warning and for a significant amount of time it can cause some serious damage in one’s home or disrupt business operations. Having a generator always on site for all your important power needs, may help you avoid problems associated with power outage.

Generators come in all shapes and sizes, however the ones with the greatest scope of use are petrol generators. First of all, they are smaller and more affordable than the ones running on diesel or natural gas. The smaller size makes petrol generators portable for outdoor use on farming or construction equipment. There’s also an incredibly wide range of petrol generators for sale that you can take with you at a campsite, use for a barbecue or any other outdoor private event.

Nowadays, there’s a huge choice of petrol generators for sale on the market that can meet both residential and industrial needs. Depending on what kind of appliances and machines you need to have up and running at all times, the necessary amount of wattage in a petrol generator can vary. Here’s a handy wattage calculator for the most common household appliances to help you decide on the amount of power you need from your generator. If you’re looking for a generator that can power multiple machines simultaneously, add all the different wattages together to determine how much power you need.

While the most common types of generators for home use are lightweight and portable, there are much larger standby models as well. Standby petrol generators can be found in large facilities, where a power outage can have a disastrous effect such as hospitals, for instance. These petrol generators can provide anywhere from 7 kilowatts to several hundred kilowatts of electricity. Standby generators have a built in mechanism that shuts down the generator if it overheats, in order to prevent any electrical shocks or fires.

As you can see, petrol generators can be a portable source of power whenever the need arises, such as when you’re camping or taking care of your agricultural field. On the other hand, powerful standby generators are a necessity for buildings that require a constant and reliable source of power, such as hospitals, schools, airports, restaurants and industrial plants. In addition, more and more department stores and office buildings equip themselves with such an alternative power source as a means of precaution. In today’s fast pace world, downtime due to blackouts can result in significant loss of money, and that’s not on anyone’s wish list.

One of the best choices for supplemental indoor cooling, ventilation and moisture removals is the heavy duty fan. You can probably get away with getting a household fan for a small office, but cooling an entire garage, warehouse and other commercial space will require the use of several household fans. Instead, buying a single duty fan will do the trick for you.

There are various different models, so you aren’t left with a shortage of options in that regard. There are mobile standalone models which are great if you need their portability from one area to another in a commercial environment. These are an economical solution, while on the other hand, wall and floor fans are immobile and you might need to get one for each and every room.

Heavy duty fans are easy to install, contrary to popular belief, and they can be utilised to deliver uniform temperatures to schools, restaurants, loading docks, and many other industrial and commercial spaces. Moreover, fans reduce the dependency on your HVAC system. They regulate already conditioned air, and lower your energy bill.

Furthermore, a heavy duty fan can protect the inventory in your storage room. Lots of foods are susceptible to spoilage and that can be prevented by the fan. The fan will keep the air circulating through the room which helps deter mold, mildew and will help keep things fresh. Diffusing fumes and reducing moisture can help make the workplace safer and less slippery. Moreover, fumes and exhaust won’t linger in place, since the fan will blow them out of the way. You can also use the fan in reverse to destratify the air.

Depending on the size of your workshop, garage, warehouse or office, you’ll want to choose an appropriate size fan, in order for it to be efficient throughout the entire room. The construction of the fan should be of something durable like aluminium. And lastly, if you want to save money on the electricity bill, make sure it has an energy efficient induction motor!

Whether you love it or fear it, the chainsaw has made its way into many people’s lives over the past few years, and for all the right reasons – it helps keep your yard in check. No more unwanted branches, bushes and trees, and certainly no more overpaying landscaping companies to remove them for you. If you don’t own a chainsaw by now, it’s definitely the time to change that by looking up a chainsaw sale and making a purchase.

But before you open up your wallet and buy one, there are a couple of things you should be aware of. Namely, you should figure out what type of chainsaw is best suited for you, and what the difference between them is. The two types you’ll find on a chainsaw sale are electric and gas powered.

Electric Chainsaw

Electric chainsaws are typically the more quieter and light-duty option, plus you won’t have to worry about refilling the fuel tank. Depending on whether it’s corded or cordless, you might need an extra set of batteries if you want to operate it for longer time periods. If it’s corded however, you’ll probably need an extension cord so you can reach all the areas in your yard. Depending on the motor power, you’ll typically be able to cut through most branches and brushes. However, cutting through a grown tree might not be possible with an entry-level model.

Gas/Petrol Chainsaw

Gas or petrol models are the more heavy-duty option and they’re extremely loud and powerful. They can cut through virtually anything and are extremely portable. If you decide to go with with this type, make sure it’s comfortable and not too heavy, because that can quickly tire you. They typically feature a two-cycle engine and longer blade length. Also, make sure you use the right fuel to prevent engine wear. Read the owner’s manual to know what type of fuel manufacturer recommends.

Features

Regardless whether you’ve decided to buy an electric-powered or a gas-powered chainsaw, there are some features you should highly consider in order to improve comfort, safety and efficiency. Namely, you should be looking at chainsaws that have anti-vibration, spring-assist starting, tool-less chain adjustment, low-kickback bars, chain breaker, automatic oiler and air-cleaning properties.

Safety

Chainsaws cut through wood with relative ease, so imagine what they can do to your flesh and bones. It’s important to always wear safety gear when handling such power tool. Goggles will prevent debris and dust from getting into your eyes and blinding you and gloves are also a must-have. Handle the saw very carefully, and store it safely!

Though we live in an advanced era, we have to admit we have largely contributed to the global warming we’re witnesses of as of late, resulting in climate changes we shouldn’t underestimate. It takes getting in the habit of making eco-friendly decisions to be able to reduce the carbon footprint as much as we can, and help save our planet.

Great news is our nation is taking this seriously when it comes to relying on solar energy, considering we’re leading in the number of home solar panel systems per capita. So we have energy settled, but there’s another wise decision to be made when it comes to water preservation: using bore water with the help of bore water pumps.

You can even get the best of both worlds by opting for the solar bore designs, delivering up to 1250 litres per hour. When you use bore water, thanks to these pumps, you won’t have to dig up deeply, like digging up a well, to retrieve water easily.

Speaking of water being retrieved with bore water pumps, there are things you have to have in mind. As first, considering it’s the water in aquifers, it can get contaminated as it moves through, same as rivers. This is more so with water in unconfined aquifers that are found shallow in the ground, than it is with confined aquifers deeper in the ground.

Bore water from the unconfined aquifers can be used for domestic purposes that don’t involve drinking it, such as washing clothes, car, flushing the toilet, and garden irrigation (inedible plants), but even so it’s best not leaving it to chance but simply checking its safety by testing its pH; as long as it’s not less than 5pH, you have nothing to worry about. In case you are planning on using this water source for your swimming pool, it’s advisable to increase the pool chemicals.

If, however, you rely on this as a potable water source as well, you have to do more than just the pH test to check for microbiological contamination. This is something a laboratory that’s accredited by NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities) can help you with, but you have to be specific on your water bore uses, as there are different guidelines and levels of checks for non-potable, and potable purposes. To avoid contamination, make sure you do maintenance and checkups of your bore, and bore pump, and of course, avoiding corrosion, and primarily ensuring the bore is placed away from wastewater systems (30 metres at least), and livestock.

In case you notice abnormal colour, odour, and pH lower than 5, it’s important to do tests immediately, and get help of the EHOs (Environmental Health Officers). Safety first!

We all have our homes, made to our taste, representing us as individuals which can be seen in the many interior styles there are, the choices of furniture, appliances, and decoration. However, what we all have in common is the necessity to maintain and repair our homes. Unfortunately, there comes a time when problems that require fixing appear, which is why it’s more than useful to have a certain set of tools to rely on; taking matters into your own hands and being your family’s handyman can be fun.

Well, at least with taking care of the little fixes, if you’re not that certain of your handyman skills. And yet, there’s a question that pops out since the world of power tools Australia round specialised shops and retailers provide is rather vast, how can you be sure on the tools you should buy? As first, you have to know a bit of every tool that you come across, as much as about specific brands, and then ask yourself how often you’d use the one you’re interested in buying.

There are power tools Australia round that are considered basic, and a definite must-have. One of them is the power drill. Whether corded or cordless, depending on how much of a tech addict you are, there are numerous ways you can make use of this ingenious tool; especially if you go for the one that can drill various materials, from tiles, and plaster, to concrete, so you can use it for outdoor fixes as much as for indoors.

Next, more tools you can certainly use well are the saw tools, both circular and chain saw. Though you’d need more practice with both, and the bits of protective equipment, once you get a hold of them, you’d love tasks that rely on their use. A chain saw can help you with pruning trees, cutting our branches and unwanted trees, as much as with seasoning firewood and cutting out logs, while the circular saw can help you out with cutting a variety of materials apart from wood, such as plastic, masonry, and even metal.

Patching up holes on walls, or other surfaces, can be simplified and cost you less time and effort when you have a sander as your helping hand. If you want the best result, consider getting an orbital sander as it doesn’t leave out many sanding marks.

Having in mind tools can wear and tear also, depending on the continuous use, it wouldn’t hurt to give them a bit of maintenance every now and then as well, and get tools that could assist getting them back in perfect shape. For instance, the blades of the chain saw and circular saw can dull out with time, but it wouldn’t be anything to worry about when you have a sharpener.

The advance in heat detection devices has transformed building safety. Contractors and building inspectors are now regularly using these devices to diagnose potential faults within the structure of a building. Since all facilities are prone to various problems such as thermal loss, moisture intrusion or electricity failures, it’s important to always have the right tool to track these problems. And the market is booming with many options that allow you to measure infrared heat and be able to conclude what’s happening within a wall, pipe or any enclosed space.

However, not all of them are created equal. Some like the thermometer can only give you an approximate temperature reading, while others are more advanced and come with a number of different options that enable you to more thoroughly inspect a building. Because building safety should leave no space for errors and uncertainties, many contractors choose to use thermal imaging cameras which are the best heat measuring tools.

Most tools used to measure heat can only give you a temperature number, which sometimes might be inaccurate. With such tools, although a lot cheaper, you will always be left guessing. But a thermal camera works in such a way that it allows you to actually see the heat, giving you exact temperature measurements and an image of heat distribution. Having detailed visual information and accurate temperature numbers enables you to detect problems fast and thoroughly.

Thermal imaging cameras, such as FLIR E4 and FLIR E60 are often mistakenly confused with temperature guns, which are another form of heat measuring tools. The only thing that these two types of tools have in common is that they both use infrared technology. However, the temperature gun can only measure one point while the thermal camera has the capacity to measure thousands of points. Therefore, a temperature gun can be useful when you know there is a problem and the exact spot it’s located in. But because it can measure the temperature of one single spot, some crucial information might go unnoticed.

On the other hand, thermal cameras can be used even when you’re not sure there is a problem in the first place. Because of the advanced optics of thermal cameras, they can easily inspect a wider area and read temperature from a long distance. Also, cameras are preferred over temperature guns because they provide the user with more information. While temperature guns can only display the temperature that comes from a certain point, thermal cameras create a multifunctional image enabling the user to see exactly where the faults are located and how severe they are.

What are transfer pumps?

The main purpose of using pumps is moving fluids from one receptacle to another, which is necessary for a wide array of applications. For instance, transfer pumps are usually used in small-scale personal, agricultural or commercial applications in which a particular fluid, especially gasoline or oil, needs to be moved from one tank to another. However, they are also used in larger scale applications like shipping and mining, or in construction projects when a body of water needs to be moved to a different nearby location.

They are powered by powerful, high-quality and self-priming motors which are easy to use. If you are looking to buy a cheap transfer pump of a considerable quality, your best best is buying one online due to the convenience and higher chances of finding a great deal. They can be used for boats or caravans, water transfer, small rain system, sprayers, or other industry uses. Transfer pumps can be even used with a liquid that has weak alkaline and acid.

How do they work?

Having in mind the fact that there are so many different applications where a cheap transfer pump can be used, it is no surprising that they come in a variety of sizes and shapes. The larger ones are centrifugal pumps and these are typically heavy duty ones that use a spinning impeller for drawing the fluid out of the original receptacle and pump it forward. On the other hand, the smaller versions that are meant for personal use may be hand-driven reciprocating pumps, but still,a bigger part of all the different types of transfer pumps are powered by either electricity or internal combustion engines.

Pump efficiency

When a pump operates at a flow which is away from its best efficiency point, its efficiency is naturally lowered. Therefore, a centrifugal pump which is operating at 80% efficiency at its best efficiency point, will operate at maybe 30% efficiency at half flow. In reality, the larger you pump, the more money you will be losing, which will eventually cost you lots and lots of lost dollars.

For example, consider a 1,000 hp motor, running continuously throughout the entire year. With an estimated energy cost of 7 cents, these 1000 hp (746 kW) will consume 746 x 24 x 360 x 0.07 = $451,181 per year. This is what usually happens at 30% pump efficiency. In case the efficiency of the pump is significantly improved or restored back to its original peak of 80%, the energy cost would be only 451,181 x (30/80) = $169,193.

Bottom line is, you will save $281,988 per year. Now take a look at the equation once again and put your own numbers into it. Although the numbers may change, the point remains the same: efficiency is definitely not a small issue and equates to big dollars.

Although cement mixers are generally used at construction sites, some homeowners decide to get a small mixer for backyard projects. If you too feel like venturing in the world of ambitious DIY-ers, there are two basic types of concrete mixer for sale available: hand-drive and electric.

Hand-driven Models

This is the less expensive option, normally, since they require more effort from the user. They are driven by a big steel wheel which turns a crank and that’s how the mixer gets to spin. The fact that they don’t run on electricity and don’t rely on a power cord renders them somewhat more convenient, but that’s probably the only thing along with the lower price that might make them appear a better choice to someone when compared to electric models. Truth be told, spending a little more seems like a smarter thing to do in hindsight, when shuffling around a drum full of cement. However, if you do decide to opt for a hand-driven model, at least make sure the turning mechanism is sturdy and properly secured to the machine. Models that are not made of steel shouldn’t make the cut even as an option. Mixers that rely on plastic parts are a big no-no, needless to say, since with them, you’ll always have to worry when should you need a heavier pull of wet cement.

Electric Models

As the name itself implies, these mixers do not rely on human power for their spin, but on electricity and that makes making concrete a whole lot easier for the user. Popular concrete mixer for sale models feature 170 and 255 litre drum range which is referred to as the medium-sized batch of concrete. A downside for this type, as you may guess yourself, is the price. Also, they can only be used when attached to a power cord, a characteristic that makes them less convenient than the aforementioned type. However, this downside comes into play mostly for construction sites without electricity, whereas for enthusiastic homeowners, they can be a very handy investment when it comes to making backyard projects independently.

When choosing a cement mixer, remember that its wheels are a very important consideration. They need to be thick and large since all the heavy load will be theirs for the taking. Also, their sturdiness will also come in handy when you’ll need to push the mixer somewhere bumpy or muddy or both.

Efficient maintenance and prevention are the two main things thermal imaging cameras are designed to provide. They’re most commonly used in industrial and commercial environments for both environmental and safety purposes. However, they can also be used around the household for keeping electrical appliances in optimum condition. Due to their efficient performance and wide range of uses, thermal cameras have become indispensable tools on many construction sites and other industrial settings. Their design is constantly improving and nowadays there are different types of thermal cameras designed to provide different maintenance and prevention solutions.

Before we take a look at one of the best thermal imaging cameras on the market, let’s first describe this advanced tool. Don’t let the term camera deceive you because thermal cameras are anything but ordinary cameras. They capture things that aren’t visible to the human eye. All objects emit infrared energy and the hotter the one object is, the more energy it will emit. Well, the naked eye can’t see this IR energy and this is where a thermal or IR camera comes to the scene. It’s basically a tool the detects IR radiation and displays it into a detailed and clear image that tells you just how much energy your appliances or machines emit.

Thermal precision, high resolution and compact design are all features that a top quality IR camera should have and the FLIR E60 offers all these and a lot more. Due to its accurate readings and fast performance, the FLIR E60 thermal imaging camera is considered the best maintenance tool on the market. One of the most important features to look out for when choosing an IR camera is resolution and the FLIR E60 comes with a high resolution of 76,800 pixels (320×240) which delivers clean and detailed images that enable you to keep track of the performance of your machines and quickly detect any problems. Compact and lightweight, the FLIR E60 thermal imaging camera can easily fit in your pocket or tool bag, which means you can easily take it with you on any work assignment.

Furthermore, this camera is very simple to use and it comes with a variety of enhancement features designed to further improve the quality of the images. It has 25 degree lenses which are not as wide as the ones found on other FLIR models and can efficiently make temperature measurements on small areas and objects. The advanced and practical lenses enable you to measure the temperature of smaller surface areas from a safe distance quickly and efficiently. Another great thing about the FLIR E60 is its robust body that has a slightly rubberised finish, which means that it won’t slip easily from your hands. However, even if it does, worry not – it is deigned to survive a 2 meter drop. Durability at its finest!

Are you just getting into metalworking and are looking for quality tools to perform cutting? Trying to find a better cutting tool than the one you already have? Keep reading – in this guide we’ll talk about the basic tools required for the cutting process in the metalworking industry. Metalworking has been existing almost for as long as we have. Archaeologists have discovered adornments and metalworking tools that were developed through means unknown, yet display both craftsmanship and precision.

In the modern world however, metalworking has become a profession as well as a hobby. This is of course an addition to the already popular professions of blacksmithing and tinsmithing. Therefore, the right cutting tools you can use for metalworking will greatly depend on a couple of circumstances. You can find all the necessary tools like nibblers, saws, snips and steel shears for sale online and in hardware stores with relative ease.

Steel Shears

Steel shears come in different forms but they all have similar purposes. You can use them to either die-cut, or shear sheet metal in the manufacturing process. You can find alligator, bench, power, throatless and guillotine steel shears for sale in most shops. Each type has its own distinct purpose, so the one you decide to go for will depend on the type of die-cutting or shearing you intend to do. However, generally, these units come in very handy with the right combination of durability and comfort. Besides metal, you can cut wood and uneven surfaces with them. They come in a variety of sizes and designs, so you should first make the decision on how you intend to use them most.

Saws

Saws are the most basic tool that performs cutting in the industrial world. There are various different types of saws and the same thing applies for them as in shears – there are different types for different purposes. The most commonly used saws are abrasive saws, bandsaws, hacksaws, jigsaws and cold saws. Jigsaws excel at cutting shapes and patterns, while the other types are for sheer metal cutting which differ in the method that they perform the cuts and whether they’re mounted or hand-held.

Nibblers

Nibblers are used strictly for sheet metal. They’re handheld devices which operate similarly to a die and punch. They feature a linear blade which moves opposite to the fixed die of the tool. They generally produce clean sheet cuts without any distortion. Even though they’re generally a manually operated tool, there are power nibblers available which are powered by an air compressor.

Whether you’re doing just basic site leveling on a house, or some advanced leveling on a commercial block you’ll probably need a more advanced tool than the basic level tool in order to do the task quicker, more precisely and efficiently. The tool in question is the laser level. These are advanced tools which allow users to demarcate a straight line much more accurately than it was possible before they came to be.

Nowadays, there are several types of laser levels available, each different than the other. So depending on the type of leveling you need done, one type of laser level can be more suitable than the other. However, also worth considering is how often you’ll use the laser level and for what purpose you’ll use it most of the time. The most popular types are the crossline and the rotary laser.

Crossline Laser

A crossline laser is capable of shooting multiple horizontal and vertical laser lines by using light emitting diodes over a 20 to 30 metres distance. These lasers are best suited for indoor use as their visibility is lowered when light interferes. Crossline lasers feature plumb up and plumb down capabilities. The newer, modern crossline laser models include pulsing light technology which works with a light detector, broadening their outdoors use and their use in bright indoor spaces. These lasers are incredibly versatile as you can turn either the horizontal or vertical lines.

Rotary Lasers

These lasers use a detector to read the laser lines over long distances. They operate by projecting a rotating dot that creates a 360° line. Advanced models have plum up and plumb down capabilities just like crossline lasers. Moreover, they have a single line generator, making them ideal for outdoor work, like laying pipes, grading roads and laying foundations. However, they’re the most expensive type out of all level lasers with their costs ranging from several hundred to a few thousand dollars. You can pick between manual and self-leveling models – both can be remotely controlled. There are some large models of rotary lasers that have to be mounted on a platform or a tractor. These models are usually used for grading and foundation work.

Leveling lasers allow engineers and contractors to lay out building and site designs with more accuracy and quicker than other leveling tools, with less manual labor being included. In some industries, like the airline and shipbuilding industry, laser levels provide real-time feedback, which you can instantly compare to the CAE/CAD files. Higher-end lasers feature Bluetooth and wireless technology allowing users to transmit dimensions to a mobile device.

Anyone who has ever tried to split a pile of wood with a conventional axe understands how time consuming and tiring it can be. Luckily, we live in an age where technology is advanced, that even the simplest of things, like cutting wood, can be made even simpler. Log splitters are pieces of equipment that can save you both valuable time and energy when it comes to effectively and easily cutting wood.

Depending on your needs, log splitters can be found in one of three basic categories: manual, electric and gas. Every type comes with its own advantages and drawbacks, so understanding all of their features will enable you to make the right purchase. Furthermore, there are various sizes of log splitters, and therefore, more variations in price. Smaller models are usually cheaper, while the larger ones are more expensive.

Manual Log Splitters

This type is the cheap log splitter, however, as such it provide less splitting capacity. Manual splitters are usually powered by 2-speed pumps and are both portable and lightweight, allowing for easy transportation. The amount of effort and time needed to split wood using these pieces of equipment is something to be considered before buying them. Frequent users may decide against them, while occasional users may appreciate the affordability and ease they offer.

Electric Log Splitters

The electric log splitter is also a rather cheap log splitter type and it comes with a moderate splititng capacity. This type can usually be towed relatively easy, however, ensuring access to an electricity supply is one of the biggest concerns when transporting it. Typically, most models can run off a 120 V household current. However, using a log splitter of this kind in a remote area could be quite challenging.

Gas Log Splitters

This type of log splitter is the most expensive type, however, it is also the most powerful and toughest one. Most models require a trailer hitch to be towed, making transporting easy and safe. Something to keep in mind when considering a gas log splitter is the type of ventilation required to properly use it, as it produces fumes that need to be properly ventilated in order to avoid injury.

To sum it up, investing in a log splitter can save you much valuable time and effort. Splitters come in a wide variety of manual, electric and gas models, each with specific advantages and disadvantages. Before purchasing one, consider factors such as how often you’ll be using it, where you’ll be working and the size and type of wood you’ll be splitting. Finding the right balance between these factors will ensure you pick the right type for your needs.

Taking proper care of your lawn seems like a chore for some people, but little do they know that lawn care is not just a vanity project – it’s of great importance for the entire environment. People benefit from healthy trees, shrubs and grasses, and believe it or not, you are making a big difference for yourself and the ones you love by taking proper care of your lawn.

When you keep your lawn in good shape, you encourage your entire family to spend more quality time outdoors and enjoy each other’s company. Being outside has many health benefits for everyone. Moreover, an eye appealing lawn increases the property value of your home. The best thing is that all you need to properly maintain it, is a lawn mower and garden clippers.

The clippers are a hand tool which is quite easy to find, so we’ll skip them entirely in this article. Instead, we’ll focus on the lawn mowers, the electric lawn mower, specifically, and the advantages it offers over other types of electric mowers.

First of all, electric lawn mowers are virtually silent. Sure, you can expect some noise, but since the engine isn’t oil or gas powered, you won’t have the same decibel of sound as other mowers produce. The noise from traditional lawn mowers can seriously damage your ears, but with electric lawn mowers you won’t have to worry about it. I’m sure you’re neighbors will appreciate this as well.

As aforementioned, there’s no gas or oil involved, so you don’t need to bother getting fuel for your motor. Plus, this eliminates the chance of accidental spills. Some researches show that there are more than a few million gallons of gas being spilled from lawn mowing equipment, so having an electric mower eliminates this hazard.

Perhaps the most important benefit of electric lawn mowers is that you’re protecting the environment when opting for them. We’ve seen gas and oil prices rising over the years and hitting record highs. These lawn mowers are environmentally friendly, as you aren’t wasting any natural resources when using them. Think about how much we can reduce the dependence on foreign oil and gas if we all use electric mowers.

Oh, and did I mention you save a lot of money? Yeah, instead of paying up to $5 for a gallon of oil or gas, you’ll pay about as much to charge your mower for the entire year. Moreover, the maintenance and upkeep costs are significantly lower as well. You can eliminate the costs of oil, oil filters, tune-ups and other maintenance necessities required for traditional oil or gas powered motors.

When it comes to test equipment devices, we’ve shifted from simple analog devices to the modern, sophisticated, multipurpose digital ones. And this is true for most, if not all test equipment devices available on the market, including thermal imaging cameras. A thermal imaging camera is a measurement and test device which is used to measure temperatures for a longer, safer distance. It can be used in various applications, but its main uses are in the industrial and commercial settings like the manufacturing, food and electrical industry.

As the name implies, thermal imaging cameras are used to check the temperature of electrical devices by monitoring their electrical circuits, pipes and radiant heating for the purpose of determining potential leaks and infiltration. Regardless which industry you work in, one of the best thermal imaging cameras is the FLIR E4 thermal imaging camera, as it’s the type of quality equipment tester that can significantly increase the efficiency and safety of all your applications and machines. What sets the FLIR E4 thermal imaging camera apart from other thermal imaging cameras are its high-tech features, which include:

A built-in visual camera

A 4.800 pixels, 80×60 infrared resolution

0.15 degrees Celsius thermal sensitivity

Enhanced image quality, thanks to its multi spectral dynamic imaging

Advanced menu navigation with a bright colour display

Various colour palettes for different users

FLIR tools for image analysis and a comprehensive reporting software

Rugged housing which is drop tested from up to 2 metres

Rechargeable batteries

All these features make this thermal imaging camera the best option for all of your testing necessities in whichever industry you might work. The thing is, the focus of this device is not only about correctly measuring the heat, but about providing visualized, quick results which reduce mistakes and increase safety, especially in industries and rooms where contamination must be avoided at all costs.

This thermal imaging camera uses the point-and-shoot style. It has a thermal sensitivity of 150 mK and can measure up to 4.800 temperature points. This allows you to spot even the tiniest differences between cold and hot. The built-in visual camera allows you to see both the standard visual image as well as the infrared thermal image. You can save both at the same time, which can be imported in the report with the FLIR tools software that it features. The multi spectral dynamic imaging adds another level of detail to the images, which brings out the previously unnoticeable details in an infrared image.

As an invention, chains (the very useful series of links connected together) have been around for a really long time, since about 225 BC. They have withstood the test of time and they have only been improved upon. An obvious, yet, interesting fact to mention is that they’re ever to be used as a symbol of oppression and they have their place in hip hop culture. However, they are mainly used in industries for lifting, hoisting, pulling and securing. There are also chains that are made in a unique way and they are used for transferring power in machines. Chains are also used as a way to transfer motion in motorcycles and bicycles. Below I’ll go over the basics regarding industrial chains – how they are used and what to bare in mind when it’s time to choose one.

The first thing to consider is chain grade. This is the measure of the tensile strength of the metal used to make the chain. It indicates the amount of force the chain can withstand before it eventually breaks. The higher the grade number the more force is needed to break the chain. Besides the quality, the grade being higher also results in a higher price tag for the chain. Paying higher price for better quality isn’t anything new. But, depending on what grade the chain has, it can have a different purpose.

There is also division among chains regarding the size of the links. The size of the link is what dictates what the chain will be used for. Longer links make an industrial chain lighter and allow for it to be be used with shackle bolts. This makes them perfect for applications where something needs to be bolted down. More length doesn’t make them good for lifting as it creates weaknesses and it can cause chain damage even breakage. Studded chains have a tiny piece of metal in the middle of the links. This makes them a lot stronger (perfect for pulling and lifting), but also heavier. BBB chains are a little bit more compact and feature shorter links. These are usually used on boat windlasses and they are made out of low carbon steel.

The finish of the chains is also of great importance. If you plan to use your industrial chain for boat purposes in salty water, your best choice would be the “hot dip” galvanised steel, as it can’t get affected by the salt. Stainless steel is not the number one choice for salty water as it can get rusty from the salt.

The portable appliance testing is a term used to describe the examination of electrical appliances and equipment to ensure they are safe to use. Even though most of the electrical safety defects can be detected by visual examination, some types of defect can only be found by testing. That’s why it’s important to understand that visual examination is a really important process and getting to know and understanding the equipment is essential. However, a more formal and deeper inspection is required in order to make yourself sure that all your electrical appliances work properly. Normally these tests have to be performed by a skilled and competent person depending on the type of equipment and the environment in which they are used.

It’s true that the frequency of the PAT testing depends on the type of equipment and the environment in which it is used in, but it also depends on the company’s risk assessment and maintenance schedule. For example, it’s clearly obvious that a power tool that’s used on a construction site should be examined more frequently than a lamp in a restaurant, so understanding the importance of the examination is really important when it comes to PAT testing. In order to perform the test, you’ll need to own PAT testers, equipment that comes in many different types. The simple pass/fail PAT testers can only tell you whether the device has passed or failed the test, which means they are the cheapest and the least effective testers around.

There are also manual PAT testers that are something in between the basic and the high-end models. They require a greater knowledge of PAT testing and it’s important to know how to correctly interpret the results derived from the test. Although there are some manuals that still use the pass/fail technique, most of them are modernized and use different methods to show the testing results. However, the best testers available to this date are the downloadable PAT testers. These devices normally have all kinds of advanced and fancy features such as keyboards, LCD displays, they are easily connectable to computers and have internal memory storage. Their testing results can be downloaded on the device itself or on a PC, a mobile phone or a tablet.

Note that some of the PAT testers are inappropriate for some devices and may even damage some of the equipment unless appropriate precaution measures are taken. That’s why it’s important that the people working with the testers understand all about the devices that are being tested.

Everyone who wants to make significant performance upgrades on their car often times upgrades the exhaust system, replacing the stock one with an aftermarket performance exhaust. However, a lot of people don’t do it for the performance itself, but for the visual looks and sound. We all know the purpose of the exhaust system so I won’t get into that at all, but there’s one question that seems to trouble a lot of people – whether they should go for a stainless steel or an aluminized exhaust system.

When choosing an exhaust system and making the decision between a stainless and an aluminized exhaust, you need to be aware of the pros and cons of both, so that you can make an informed decision. Taking into account your needs and especially your location is essential before making the decision, as these things will certainly impact the longevity of your exhaust.

Knowing that a lot of people care only about appearance, we’ll start off with it. If you are one of those people, stainless steel has a small advantage over the aluminized steel because it can be polished and it will look new for a much longer period of time when compared to aluminized steel. However, stainless steel is more expensive and over time it can become discoloured because exhaust systems reach high temperatures. So unless you’re constantly polishing it and cleaning it, the extra expense might not be worth your money, as far as looks are concerned.

Now on to the more important matters. The area you live in, and the fact whether it is characterized by snowy winters or not, can be a deciding factor. Aluminized steel is great for dry areas, and in fact, it’s the preferred choice. Stainless steel is more corrosion resistant and it’s the better choice if you live in areas near salt water.

A quality stainless steel and a quality aluminized steel exhaust can outlast your car. They’re built to go more than 2 million kilometers, and still stay intact. However, only you can determine how long you plan on using your current vehicle and how much you’ll take care of it. If you plan on replacing your car within a few years, aluminized steel is the smarter choice as it’s much cheaper.

These few tips should give you some insight and help you make the right decision. To sum it up, the stainless exhaust is pricier than aluminized, however, it is slightly better if you live in a highly humid area. It can look newer if you take proper care of it, plus, it’s corrosion resistant.

Being a huge motorcycle enthusiast, I’m always stuck between the choices of either trailering my bike or riding it to the place I plan on going for an extended period of time. Let’s be honest, bikes are exciting, but they’re not the most comfortable way to travel long distances, especially if there are chances of heavy winds or rain. Regardless, I don’t go anywhere without my bike, and in order to do that, I always strap it on my truck with a load securing equipment.

When there’s a need for something to be secured on the back of a truck, van, SUV and trailer, doing it with a load securing equipment (such as tow straps and tie downs) is your best bet. These dependable and sturdy pieces of equipment will allow you to rest assured your valuable possessions (in my case my bike) are safely secured for transport.

Both tow straps and tie downs are made of very similar, and sometimes the same material. However, they’re used to solve different problems. Tie downs are long, flat pieces of woven material and are mostly used to secure items to an open trailer or vehicle in the back. They also include a way to tighten the hold down, which is something you need in the case of transporting a bike.

Tow straps on the other hand, are configured in a way to strap down a vehicle for recovery, or hold tires in place. Their capacity is outstanding and they’re most often built to specifically haul vehicles or fit race car trailers. Besides hauling cars, they can be used for hauling heavy equipment. I personally haven’t used one of these, but I have one in the back of my truck for emergency cases.

One of the easiest tie downs to use are the ratchet straps. They’re called ratchet straps because they have the ability to “ratchet” up the tightness of the strap easily and quickly with hardware that is integrated into the strap itself. Ratchet straps work in a similar way as belt buckles, except they don’t have holes so you aren’t limited to certain lengths.

The hardware that accompanies the material is of great importance. It doesn’t matter how sturdy and strong the material is if the attachment parts are flimsy and weak. You’ll want to ensure you’re getting high quality hardware when looking for tow straps or tie downs. By hardware I mean vinyl-coated S-hooks to avoid scratching your bike, and buckles that prevent slippage when you’re tightening the straps.

The human body is complex, there’s no doubt about it, but there are certain things and aspects that haven’t been developed to the extent they could or should have. We have our deficiencies, but we’ve learnt how to make up for the deficits through ingenious tools and devices. Such is the case also with our lack of ability to have a vision that can zoom in and out in great amounts. When you work in the field of technological developments, designing microchips, fixing electronics, jewellery and watch repair, embroidery, or even crafts and hobbies that require going into details, you might easily get eyestrain and vision fatigue making it impossible to continue with your tasks unless for a long break. When your profession depends on it, your productivity and profits also depend on it and this is where tools come in handy.

Roger Bacon, known as Doctor Mirabilis, invented the first magnifying glass in 1250 and it set the grounds for the microscope, though ancient peoples of Egypt are also known to have used crystals to magnify objects. Though we need magnifying glasses for duty, we could make use of them during our hobbies as well, during reading for instance. People with eyesight issues, such as hyperopia, find even simple tasks as nail trimming difficult, so the use of a tool is more than helpful. Nowadays, with the use of technology, the design of magnifying glasses has been taken up a notch to make it all the more advantageous and you can find the magnifier lamp products, the combination of magnifying with good lighting, suitable for your requirements.

Unlike with older models, latest magnifier lamps have LED instead of fluorescent lights. Not only do they provide more brightness during a longer period, but they are also safer because they don’t use up as much energy thus they don’t produce heat so they provide the proper lighting immediately. There is also a difference concerning the lens of the lamp, certain have 3 lens diopter whereas others have 5. Those with 3 magnify an object 175%, and objects seen through the 5 diopter are 225% magnified. The lens decreases when the diopter increases. Depending on where you intend to place them and the kind of desk you have, these lamps differ in style. Most common models are desktop or desktop with a clamp so they can easily be attached to a workbench, desk or table, but if it’s more mobility you’re after, then consider buying rolling floor base to give you the chance to move the lamp anywhere you want.

As the leader of a company your most important goal should be the progress of the company, but as the business starts to grow, you might face a few problems on the way. There will be a higher demand for your product, and as the demands increase so does inventory. But increasing inventory does not only mean more sales and higher profits. It also requires business expansion, be it moving to a bigger warehouse or implementing a racking system. The latter is by far the easiest, cheapest, and most efficient solution to increased storage capacity.

mrpalletracking.com.au

Pallet racking is in fact a frame shelving system. It implements the pallets on which the stock arrives as a shelving. It’s a convenient way to save on space in your warehouse, without the need to make huge changes. Just because it is cheap, it doesn’t mean that it won’t be a good shelving system. A lot of companies opt for pallet racking because of its many other advantages. Pallet racking offers a lot of safety to anybody working around it because of the durable materials it’s built from. The materials used can withstand all kinds of damages from trucks or forklifts, and they are stable, so no one has to worry that something might fall. A frame shelving system is a very efficient way to make the most of the space available.

There are a few ways in which you can stack with a frame shelving, such as floor stacking, pallet flow rack system, selective, drive-in and push back pallet rack.

The simplest method of them all is floor stacking since you basically place the pallets in rows on the floor and it is a great way to avoid investing in equipment. However, this will occupy a lot of space on the floor, and you won’t have a lot of access.

Pallet flow rack systems use cross and upright beams in order to support a gravity roller conveyor that is within the rack. It has a lot of storage density, but it is very expensive.

The selective pallet rack is one of the most popular ways to store inventory. It is cheap and offers a lot of access to all of the pallets, but it has a low storage density.

The drive-in system allows for fork trucks to directly drive into the bay. It offers high density, but the rack could get damaged from the fork trucks.

A push back pallet rack uses a system where the pallets are loaded and unloaded from the front. It only needs one aisle in order to unload or load, but it doesn’t offer a lot of access.

Before we go into more detail about the best lead, you need to get a hold of all information you need to know on how HDMI to DVI cables work. Firstly, you probably want to send video from your computer to your TV. Many computers have DVI output, however, many TV monitors have primary each HDMI inputs. If you have DVI I or DVI D video output, then you will need good quality HDMI to DVI cable. The DVI was the standard connection format back in 1998, but after the great advancement of technology it was soon replaced by HDMI. Nevertheless, a lot of PC monitors still come with DVI ports even today. The DVI comes in a couple of modes such as DVI-D that is used only with a digital signal, DVI-A that uses analogue signal and DVI-I that uses both digital and analogue signal.

Within the last couple of years, all TVs and computer monitors have started supporting both HDMI and DVI connections. HDMI is in fact an abbreviation that stands for high definition multimedia interface, that can transmit both video and audio signals. However, a lot of people have older laptops, or just multimedia laptops that use DVI out port. For this reason, there are special HDMI to DVI cables or converters that you can attach to your PC and TV and without a problem transfer any type of signal.

If you have an older PC or monitor and want to connect it to your HD TV, you will need good quality HDMI to DVI cable or connector. Below we will go through a brief description of the best connector that Australian retailers have to offer, so you will not waste precious time to find the most reliable and quality solution.

INTRODUCING – PRO2 HDMI TO DVI-D LEAD

One of the best features of the PRO2 HDMI is that it has a DVI-D lead, which means it can transfer both audio and video signals at the same time. The 19 pink HDMI-A to DVI-D dual cable offers you the best video quality whether you are projecting a presentation, watching a movie or playing a video game on your big HD TV screen. The PRO 2 HDMI has integrated ferrite beats on both sides, so the interference effect is minimised. The manufacturers have used a gold plated copper on both ends, so it would lower the contact resistance.

Without the proper information, people make mistakes and buy cables that not only work improperly but damage their PC and TV. However, through the help of this article, you have the proper knowledge to choose the right cable and save yourself from unnecessary damages and receive good quality video and audio signal.
